  I am Stefano, I am 51 years old, and for about 15 years I have left my job and the certainties of a normal life to see if there was really a path that could make more sense, at least for me. My Christian roots led me to search in this direction for answers to my questions. Prayer, charity, providence, salvation, forgiveness were all words 'from the church', a bit abstract, difficult to understand and live in daily reality: is there a path to discover their truth and value? So I decided to start from what resonated most within me: being of help to those in need. I began a path of volunteering until I founded a non-profit association that, for many years in Rome, helped many people, especially the homeless, offering shelter and support. Covid stopped everything, but it was precisely at that moment that I felt the need to take a bigger step: to buy an abandoned farmhouse, renovate it, and start a project that in the last four years has welcomed dozens of people truly on the margins, with painful stories behind them, wounds, and serious dependencies. Living with them has not been simple: it has been a strong experience for everyone, especially for me, thanks to which I have learned: that the Christian faith is not a list of moral rules to follow but arises from a direct and courageous experience; that the relationship with others, especially with those we do not like and who may hurt us, is a very important part of it; that it is essential to go beyond our own walls and beliefs to open a path different from the one we complain about; and, last but not least, that all the teachings of Jesus have a meaningful, living essence that is worth knowing or deepening.
  
  For years, I've helped people in dire material need, those without a home, food, or serious health problems. Now I feel I want to dedicate my life and this place to those who seek God, a time of reflection, discussion, spirituality, or at least peace and rest before moving on with their lives. Practically, i need help in maintaining and developing the place (a farmhouse of about 600 sqm surrounded by greenery). Besides ordinary activities (like cooking and cleaning), I especially need people who are skilled or willing to work on outdoor tasks (gardening, cleaning and organizing outdoor spaces, starting a vegetable garden, building fences and enclosures).
  
  Some important points I'd like to clarify:
  - The purpose of this place is to foster the personal and spiritual growth of those who visit. You should contact me if you feel the desire to know Jesus or grow spiritually through moments of prayer, contact with nature, solitude, sharing, discussion, mutual aid, or support for vulnerable people (who may be present during your stay).
  - It doesn't matter if you're a believer or religious. Respect and openness are important, and I'm the first to offer them.
  - A financial contribution of 7 euros/day for food is required in addition to work of up to 20 hours per week.
  - I try to promote as healthy a lifestyle as possible, so alcohol is not used inside the farmhouse.
  - The kitchen is omnivorous; the weekly menu is planned to offer complete and satisfying meals for everyone (also thanks to the financial contribution of each volunteer), but it is not possible to accommodate personal needs or diets.
  - As much as possible, we try to encourage a communal experience. However, the presence of other volunteers is not guaranteed. It is important to consider the possibility of having an experience alone (or almost) especially in my absence.

  Sono Stefano, ho 51 anni e da circa 15 anni ho lasciato il lavoro e le certezze di una vita normale per vedere se davvero esisteva una strada che, almeno per me, poteva avere più senso. Le mie radici cristiane, mi portavano a cercare in questa direzione le risposte alle mie domande. Comunità, preghiera, carità, provvidenza, salvezza, perdono erano tutte parole “da chiesa “, un po' astratte, difficili da comprendere e vivere nella realtà quotidiana: esiste un percorso per poterne scoprire la verità ed il valore?
  Ho deciso quindi di partire da ciò che risuonava di più dentro di me: essere di aiuto a chi aveva bisogno. Ho iniziato un percorso di volontariato fino a fondare una associazione no profit che per tanti anni, a Roma, ha aiutato molte persone, soprattutto senza fissa dimora, offrendo accoglienza ed ascolto. Il Covid ha fermato tutto ma proprio in quel momento ho sentito di dover fare un passo più grande: comprare un casale abbandonato, ristrutturarlo, e dare il via ad un progetto che negli ultimi quattro anni ha accolto in modo residenziale decine di persone davvero ai margini, con storie dolorose alle spalle, ferite e dipendenze importanti.
  La convivenza con loro non è stata semplice: è stata una esperienza forte per tutti, me per primo, grazie alla quale ho imparato: che la fede cristiana non è un elenco di regolette morali da seguire ma nasce da una esperienza diretta e coraggiosa; che la relazione con gli altri, soprattutto con chi non ci piace e magari ci ferisce, ne è una parte importantissima; che è fondamentale andare oltre i propri muri e le proprie convinzioni per aprire una strada diversa da quella di cui ci lamentiamo; ed, ultimo ma non ultimo, tutti gli insegnamenti di Gesù hanno un senso, vivo, che vale la pena conoscere o approfondire.
  
  Per anni ho aiutato persone molto bisognose da un punto di vista materiale, che non avevano una casa, da mangiare o con gravi problemi di salute. Ora sento di volere dedicare la mia vita e questo posto a quelle persone che cercano Dio, un tempo di riflessione, confronto, spiritualità o almeno di pace e riposo prima di proseguire le loro vite. Praticamente, ho bisogno di aiuto nel mantenimento e nello sviluppo del posto (un casale di circa 600 mq immerso nel verde). A parte attività ordinarie (come cucinare e pulire) ho bisogno SOPRATTUTTO di persone esperte o volenterose nelle attività all'esterno (giardinaggio, pulizia ed organizzazione degli spazi esterni, avvio dell'orto, costruzione di staccionate e recinzioni).
  Alcuni aspetti importanti che vorrei chiarire
  - La natura di questo posto è favorire la crescita personale e spirituale di chi lo visita. Scrivi se senti il desiderio di conoscere Gesù o crescere spiritualmente attraverso momenti di preghiera, contatto con la natura, solitudine, condivisione, confronto, aiuto reciproco o sostegno a persone più fragili (che possono essere presenti durante il tuo soggiorno).
  - Non importa se sei credente o religioso. Importano rispetto e apertura e sono il primo ad offrirle.
  - E' richiesto un contributo economico di 7euro/giorno per il cibo oltre quello lavorativo di massimo 20 ore la settimana.
  - Cerco di favorire una vita più sana possibile per cui non usiamo alcolici all'interno del casale
  - la cucina è onnivora; il menù settimanale è definito per poter offrire dei pasti completi e soddisfacenti per tutti (grazie anche al contributo economico di ogni volontario) ma non si possono seguire necessità o diete personalizzate
  - Per quanto possibile cerco di favorire una esperienza comunitaria. La presenza tuttavia di altri volontari non è garantita. E' importante considerare la possibilità di vivere una esperienza in solitudine (o quasi) soprattutto in mia assenza

  Living together is always a challenge and at the same time a means of enrichment for everyone. Every person who comes can learn to relate to people who are very different, to give their time, skills, and energy, and to receive what they need not only in practical terms but also human/spiritual: listening, sharing, collaboration, and love. The important thing to learn is to move away from the sense of duty, where we do something only in return for something (be it a salary, recognition, or a role), and to open ourselves to the possibility that giving with joy opens the door to receiving, and abundantly.
  
  
  La vita in comune è sempre una sfida ed allo stesso tempo un arricchimento, per tutti. A Ogni persona che viene può imparare a relazionarsi con persone anche molto diverse, a donare il proprio tempo, le proprie competenze e le proprie energie e ricevere quello di cui ha bisogno non solo in termini pratici ma umani/spirituali: ascolto, condivisione, collaborazione e Amore. La cosa che è importante imparare è uscire dal senso del dovere, per cui facciamo qualcosa solo a fronte di un ritorno (che sia un salario, un riconoscimento, un ruolo) e aprirci alla possibilità che dare con gioia apre la porta a ricevere, e in abbondanza.

  From a more practical point of view, at this stage of the project I need people who are able to:
  - carry out cleaning/organizing activities for outdoor spaces
  - perform gardening tasks (brush cutter, grass mower, weed cleaning, caring for trees and plants, hedge cleaning, etc.)
  - set up the space for the garden and for the animals (cleaning, fencing, preparing the land, etc.)
  - take care of the kitchen and cleaning of the farmhouse
  
  Maximum stay of two weeks, possibly extendable to four.
  
  
  Da un punto di vista più pratico, in questa fase del progetto ho bisogno di persone in grado di:
  - eseguire attività di pulizia/organizzazione degli spazi all'aperto
  - eseguire lavori di giardinaggio (decespugliatore, trincia erba, pulizia erbacce, cura degli alberi e delle piante, pulizia siepi etc..)
  - allestire lo spazio per l’orto e per gli animali (pulizia, recinzione, preparazione del terreno etc..)
  - occuparsi della cucina e della pulizia del casale
  
  Tempo massimo di ospitalità due settimane eventualmente estendibile a quattro

  Travelers can have their own room and shared/private bathroom (it dipends on the accomodation) with the use of the common areas.

  For those seeking peace, tranquility , spirituality and charity work the farmhouse offers all this. It is located north of Rome, in Sabina precisely near Fara Sabina. It is in an isolated context. It is possible to reach a minimarket with a 40-minute walk of dirt road, in the middle of the countryside, without lighting. there is a bus stop there to get you to the nearest train station in 10 minutes. By train you can reach Rome in 40 minutes, Fiumicino (sea and airport) in 90 minutes. For those who have a vehicle the whole territory of Sabina is wonderful, from the nature reserve of Nazzano sul Tevere to the abbey of Farfa. It is an ideal territory to explore it, enjoy good food and relax
  
  To facilitate any movements, bicycles are available. In special cases, it is also possible to use a car with an additional financial contribution.
  
  Per chi cerca pace, tranquillità, spiritualità e volontariato il casale offre tutto questo. Si trova a Nord di Roma, in Sabina precisamente vicino Fara Sabina. E' in un contesto isolato. E' possibile raggiungere un minimarket ed un tabaccaio con 40 minuti a piedi di strada sterrata, in mezzo alle campagne, senza illuminazione. lì è disponibile una fermata dell'autobus per arrivare alla stazione del treno piu vicina in 10 minuti. Con il treno si raggiunge Roma in 40 minuti, Fiumicino (mare ed areoporto)in 90 minuti. Per chi ha un mezzo tutto il territorio della Sabina è meraviglioso, dalla riserva naturale di Nazzano sul Tevere all'abbazia di Farfa. E' un territorio ideale per esplorarlo, godere di buon cibo e rilassarsi.
  
  Per favorire eventuali spostamenti sono disponibili delle biciclette. In casi particolari è possibile anche usufruire di una macchina con un contributo economico aggiuntivo
