Description
We have a 120 acre farm in the Latrobe Valley (VIC) and would like to show our local environment, wildlife and our community. We have a herd of Belted Galloway Cattle, which are very cute and fluffy.
There are only two of us living here, and only one full-time.
We have three dogs, which are pets and live inside. They like scratches, and some may try to sneak into your bedroom once they are comfortable with you
The help we require on the property is in and around the house, in our veggie garden, our small fruit tree orchard, and in the paddocks. Harrowing, cleaning up, pruning, and making firewood (we have very many gum trees). We do not encourage the use of any tools or practices that are unsafe or dangerous.
There is plenty of native wildlife, including Wombats, Kangaroos, many birds, Echidnas and some more.

We speak German and English at home. We have lived in Germany, suburban Australia and own our second farm.
We have moved to a rural environment and can talk about our journey from corporate/self employed life to a better life on a farm. We have a wonderful community in this area, which welcomes new people with open arms.
We would like to show our guests the local area of Gippsland, the native wildlife (we have many Wombats, Kangaroos, Echidnas, birds, and there is a reported Platypus.
There are also lizards and the odd Snake.
We have very fluffy cattle, some like a scratch as well.
Traralgon is a larger rural city that has everything one could want and is only 18 minutes by car.
The train ride from Melbourne to Traralgon is 2 hours
We have travelled extensively and have visited parts of Asia and Europe.
Africa is on our list, and America when we will retire.
We would like to hear stories from other people, their travels and experiences.
Aide
Help around the house, in the garden and on the property.
Making firewood, weeding, pruning, cleaning pasture, sweeping, helping with the animals and feeding them, and help with running the house.
We are not a commercial dairy farm, where helpers get sent to the milking shed at 5am in the morning.

Hébergement
We have two fully furnished bedrooms and a private bathroom available. We share the living areas. It's a large house with plenty of indoor and outdoor space.
We would share most meals, unless you feel like making your own meal or eating elsewhere.
It would be great if we could cook some meals together.
Autres infos...
We expect the house guests to be tidy and clean up after themselves.
You can use our washing machine for cleaning your clothes.
We offer you free Internet. Phone reception can be patchy, depending on where you are on the property.
You can do whatever you like in your free time.
There is no public transport close by, but I'm happy to drop you off in Traralgon for personal shopping, leisure or if you want to catch a train to Melbourne or other parts of this area.
We are non smokers and do not tolerate smoking in or around our home.
Because of the fire danger during summer, you are not allowed to smoke in the bush either.
We breed beef cattle, we sell them, some will go to slaughter, and we eat meat.

It was a great experience, as I was able to learn new skills, as the host let me try all sorts of things.
I was able to drive a side-by-side buggy, operate a wood splitter, stack firewood, collect twigs and make them into kindling. The highlight was the work with cattle, and I had to feed two orphan calves twice a day.… read more
Marc kindly taught me how to care for the animals. The every day work was diverse- gardening, weeding, painting, assisting with cattle and taking care of the lovely dogs and poddy… read more
