Description
We are growing a spiritual community at our home in a registered conservation area in the forests of Mid-North Coast NSW where Workawayers can learn about meditation and spiritual practices whilst assisting us with work on the land. The main house, where we live as a family of 4 and serve communal meals, was built by a master craftsman with stone walls and intricate wooden carvings.
We manage a conservation area that spans 236 acres of wet sclerophyll forest, including 8km of walking trails, forest dams for swimming on hot days, a freshwater spring and a few seasonal creeks. Nature lovers will appreciate our proximity to the Kumbatine National Park and Kippara State Forest, where there are great spots for nature swimming.
Workawayers will be staying in 'The Hippie Shack,' a rustic wooden cabin dating back to the early 1980s that we restored ourselves on the property; it has electricity, running water, Wi-Fi signal, an outdoor yoga platform and outdoor shower. We also welcome travellers who are living in their vans!
Who are we? Nicola and Roger have spent the last fifteen years living in spiritual communities, both in Australia and Vanuatu, and came to this land with the dream of building a sanctuary of peace in the heart of nature. We are a homeschooling family, raising our daughters Rosie (7) and Lila (1) to live mindfully and joyfully in wild places.
Note that our place is non-profit and there will be no paying guests on the property.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

We enshrine meditation and mindful, sustainable living as part of our family life. As our aim is to grow a spiritual community encompassing a yurt, glamping tents, a large meditation hall and flourishing food gardens, we are seeking to share the practice of conscious living and relating with anyone who comes to help us along the way.
Our project is a work-in-progress that is nonetheless perfect every step of the way, and everyone who comes to share in our lives together has something unique and precious to offer. There are limitless opportunities for growth, connection and learning here.
This Workaway opportunity is ideal for people who:
⭐ Are curious about off-grid living and natural building and wish to develop some practical skills
⭐ Have an interest in deepening spiritual practice with people who are committed to living in awareness
⭐Find joy and nourishment in the natural world and prefer to live away from towns and suburbia
⭐ Love to use physical energy for creative tasks
⭐ Seek vibrancy, depth, and quality in friendships; anyone whom we invite here becomes part of the family!Aide
We are seeking Workawayers to help us develop our organic gardens so that we can feed a community of meditators. A day in the life at our place includes:
☀️Rising early for morning practice -- yoga, meditation, or walking in nature.
☕Sharing a hot drink and breakfast, then making plans for the day
🛠️ Time for projects! This might be helping Roger with a natural building project, helping out with landscaping or gardening, cleaning or maintaining the dwellings, any task that needs doing on the land.
🥗 Lunchtime: each day Nicola prepares a nourishing vegetarian meal for everyone to enjoy after our projects, usually from organic vegetables and produce grown locally. We bless our food before eating and tend to linger at table with good conversation.
⏳Downtime: take time for your own creative projects or explore the beautiful nature and scenery in the area.
🌙 Evening activities: often we dance, share a meditation practice, or play music in the evenings. Sometimes we light a bonfire and talk under the stars. If you enjoy this sort of thing, you will love staying at our place!Langues parlées
