    Description

    My Name is David. The director and founder of the Children's Centre. I am passionate about the needy and vulnerable children and those born with disabilities.
    I was raised up by needy and poor parents. At some point they failed to support my education and I struggled through life. My sister a tailor,picked me on and other good samaritans came in later to help. This back ground pushes me and motivates me to help others .

    OUR CORE ACTIVITIES
    We do the following activities .
    * We support these children to learn how to read and write
    * Provide recreational activities like games to create social interaction with other children.
    *Art and crafts , painting and drawing.
    * We create time for playing games like football, netball, skipping the ropes and mind games.
    * Discipleship. Teach them Bible stories,
    * Teach them DIY project skills
    * Personal hygiene and general cleanness for healthy living.
    * We do home visits for guidance and counseling.
    * We also train the community groups (women, men and youth) with micro-finance entrepreneurship skills.
    * Training parents/guardians on positive parenting and child care.
    * Agro-business. We have provided two spraying pumps and two watering cans for men and women groups.
    * Entrepreneurship skills to improve on individual income generation.

    PARTNERSHIP
    * We have partnership with different government schools where our children go to.
    * We engage these schools also in different child friendly activities.

    CENTRE DAYS
    * During school time our Centre days are on Saturdays, because our children go to different government schools.
    * And in Holidays, Centre days run from, Mon,Tue, Wed, Thur, Sat.

    LEISURE TIME
    * Leisure time, Fri, Sun.

    OUR TESTIMONY.
    Our daughter Esther (third born) is born with Down syndrome and we discovered it at three months. It was long after she was born. This condition has made her vulnerable in school and the community at large. There are many other children living in needy and vulnerable conditions, that need loving and caring people to give them hope for a bright future. Come, let's join hands together to fight vulnerability among children and their families and their community at large.

    OUR STAFF
    We are a team of locally dedicated volunteers with knowledge and skills to teach, train and guide the children and our community people to bring positive change.

    FUTURE PLANS
    We plan to;
    1. To see needy and vulnerable children acquire education through paying for them school fees and other basic needs like books, uniform, pens pencils among others.
    2. To build a school where the vulnerable and special needs children can have quality education, teachers who can understand them and have a conducive learning environment.
    3. Create owners Income Generating Activities in order to raise support for children’s needs and attaining organization future self sustainability.
    4. Acquire demonstration farm for farming skills and also grow our own food for food security; for the vulnerable families.
    5. Establish a skills vocational Centre for single mums, widows and other mothers in our saving acquire the necessary skills for self sustainability hence fighting poverty.



    UPDATES/ UP-COMING EVENTS.
    * Games: Egg race, sack race, Tag of war, Blind ball kick, story telling competition
    * Celebrate Easter event with the Children.
    * January, we shall train the kids in DIY project, art and craft.
    * We had a Christmas party with the children to celebrated Christmas.
    * We visited some homes and we were able to give out some Christmas gifts to the needy and old widows.
    * We had several life changing games and activities that impacted the children.
    * Teach music, dance and drama ( locally)

    Learn how we carry out marriage ceremonies in African tradition
    Learning our local languages dialect
    Visit famous historical sites at Museum.
    Visit Water falls from mount Elgon Slopes of Siipi Fall, Sisiyi Falls
    Go Hiking and Mount Elgon site seeing
    Experience use of motor-cycle transport called "Boda boda"
    Learn how to prepare different delicious local meals like, "matooke, malewa" and Chapati.
    Learn Typical African home setting and parenting style.
    Learn about the different African beliefs and traditions.
