  Description

  I try to revive an old olive land in an area for 75 acres where is located in Edremit Altınoluk province of Balıkesir. I surrounded a little part of the land with fence which is approx. 2 acres to save the area from wild pigs' visits. There is a very young orchard and kitchen garden. A chicken coop construction is about to finished. I daily go and back there from my own house in town. Electricity is from the sun and water is mainly from the rain harvest. I have many things to do to create a self-sustainable environment and love to share what we have and what you can offer.
  This is my dream since many years so it's time to become true.
  I have many friends and family members on my path to help me, support me and encourage me time to time. One of them is living at the area permanently. So, workawayers will meet and live with him at the cottage.

  Our cottage and the base land is 2,5 km away from the nearest village and takes 20 minutes on foot. From the village the workawayers can go down with the public buses to the coastal area or to Altınoluk / Kucukkuyu provinces where cafes, restaurants, little or big shops and markets at the seaside. Peaceful and enjoyable little towns. In summer in the coastal area there are many places to swim or sunbath or have some snacks and enjoy the sea. From the village to the coast the distance is 3 km. There is a little cafe at village square. Village people is smiling, friendly and respectful. In an 1 hour distance there are many villages or natural points to be visited. We can alltogether plan some visits after we have planned and shared the tasks for the day. I have a mini truck so I can help you to make daily trips or visits around the area.

  *Caring for the shrubs and special trees (watering, prunning , digging etc.)
  *Collecting rocks from the land to the cottage area to make stone walls for some terraces
  * Collecting firewoods from the land to cottage area
  *Caring for the cottage (little repairs, painting, cleaning etc.)
  * Cooking daily for the team (Up to max. 5 person except rarely extraordinary situations)
  * Caring the fences', coop's needs (strengten, cleaning etc.)
  * Olive harvesting (seasonal - from mid September until end of December)
  * Olive prunning (seasonal - from mid Fabruary until end of April)
  * Prunning the shrubs and bushes in the land which makes harvesting difficult
  *Organizing and designing the cottage's environment
  *Prepare the food for canned, pickled, pastes etc.
  * Caring for composting /soil making
  * Build an open stone stove /oven cooker
  
  All kind of tasks will be done alltogether. We can make programs according to our interest and can do at that time. We need strong, open minded, flexible, nature lovers persons who enjoy being in a different culture and climate together with his/her skills and talents. Chanting, singing, playing music, drawing, painting, ornaments designing or all kind of creative paths are always welcomed.

  Hébergement

  Our cottage is a safe home for workawayers. 4 people can stayed in a shared position. No private unit.There is a loft inside for 2 and the base floor for 2 (but this will be for 1 since my firend lives in permanently.) I have a tent with airbed for 2 to be used outside for the appropriate seasons (mainly from March to November). WC and bathroom is ,n the cottage. So for the tent people, they can surely use the cottage's bathroom. There is a little open kitchen and large deck at the front and side.
  There is no laundry at the cottage but I help the guests in my house for that. Little private things can be washed by hands.
  I do the shopping for kitchen. Mainly mediteranean diet. Mostly seasonal vegetables, fruits, olive oil, olive and cheese, legumes and grains, pastry are the base food. Sometimes beef or meatballs or fish. Sourdough breads are from our village neighbour. I make the yogurt with cow milk again from our neighbour's natural fed cows. We can decide what to cook with workawayers at site. Washing the dishes again by hand.
  No regular alcohol consumption. Mainly for the celebrations or for the moments we feel special to be shared. Tea, coffee, herbal teas , ayran and natural fruit juices we have.
  The kitchen and food will be available for 3 course in a day but we can decide how and at what time to have them together.

  I am a 63 y/o woman and trying to fulfill one of my dreams in our olive lands. So I need skillfull and eager to contributing hands to work together. I am currently trying to create a trademark for our cold pressed virgin oil and olives. Meanwhile I don't use any pesticides for both the soil and trees/garden etc. I take into consider to make an ecologic space with biodiversity and also with aesthetic field without much intervention. I am a regression therapist and with workawayers we can listen and understand and show our own lights for each other. I am new host in Workaway site but I trust myself being a nice host in my life.
  According to the season and the tasks, workawayers can make their plans to the timeoffs. In two days off, they can stay at the cottage and just relax, rest or doing their own things. Or they can walk/trek to the mountains around us and if they have own tents they can camp around the seaside / coastal area with some fee (or for some places there is no utility so no fee).
  
  We have a good internet connection, you can do your own computer works whenever you need. But you will not be allowed to download any game, movie etc.
  
  This is a rather quiet and isolated place. This is not for the workawayers who seek crowded, very social and busy relationships in a community.
  
  My motto is: No harm and leave it better than you have found it!

  We have a good internet connection but still it is a limited one. Working on the projects or meeting with collegues in zoom etc. is no problem. Work hours can be settled according to workawayer's need.

  Now we have no pets in the land but I plan to adopt a dog. In two months also I can have chickens in coop. Dogs or cats are welcomed as long as the owner could take care of them personally.
