This is a 25 year old food forest and regenerative farm on 20 acres of beautiful redwood forest in the mountains of Santa Cruz. When this land was first purchased, our goal was to create a sacred and sustainable place for growing food, meditation, yoga and loving one another and everyday we make steps to reach this goal. We have grown into a beautiful community of people committed to learning and growing every second of every day. We are still in the process of preparing spaces, becoming as sustainable as possible and learning about permaculture and other environmental farm practices.
We are looking for workawayers that are committed to learning, but also committed to sharing the skills and knowledge they have with our community. We need hardworking, excited individuals who can do a variety of things from gardening, to building to getting their hands dirty. You will be sharing food, knowledge and spaces with the community and we need people who are willing and wanting to be an active part in our community. If you are self-driven while willing to take instruction, happy to be here and help, and inspired to help get our farm on its feet please apply! Know that you will be working with many of our core community members and following direction from them to help guide your learning. We are hoping to find individuals who will come here and continue to work on the projects that we have started, and eventually having long-term committed people that can help cultivate new ideas.
PLEASE NOTE - When we bring new workawayers into our home, you will be on a trial for the first month, as we review each week to ensure you are a good fit for our community. Please have back-up plans incase it is not a good fit!
None of the food we grow or cultivate on this farm is for sale, we intend to continue feeding and fueling our community members and our chickens. None of the spaces we use are for sale or external use and are explicitly used for those living and helping on the farm. Our main goal is for this beautiful space to be self sustainable for the community we have living here and have no intention of selling our produce at the moment. That being said, this is a community, not a business and we want to ensure that those coming to help want to contribute to the land and regenerative practices that take place here on the farm.

Here on the farm we speak English and Spanish fluently! But we also consistently have people from different countries and cultural backgrounds coming and going, making it a very culturally rich experience! You can learn something different from every single individual as we all come from different places, upbringings, and experiences and want you to be open to learning from each member here. Workawayers have a lot of opportunity to learn about a variety of different things, from farming to building to spirituality! Here are some things you can look forward to learning, to name just a few :
redwood forest ecology
food forest and home grown food
managing and harvesting fruits and veggies
managing a food garden
Learning to face your uncomfortability and being supported through self-growth and self-discovery
yoga, breathwork and meditation (we do not offer courses on this but we have space for that and many members that are willing and wanting to have discussions about these topics, many people with different knowledge!)
building and reworking wood
random skills that you don't know you'll need until you have them and much more!
Every individual that comes here will be given the opportunity to learn in depth about farming, about the world and about yourself (especially about yourself!), in a very growth-inspiring environment.
We are looking for experienced, excited and motivated people to come help us on the farm! We are currently in the process of reimagining, recreating and rebuilding old infrastructure and new buildings. We currently need help with building a solar powered hot tub and a dry shed for storing lumber and possibly a waterfall feature. Our other needs are to get everyday help with caring for our trees, our garden and mundane maintenance tasks to help our community function better. If you have farm experience or building experience that is a big plus, we are wanting to learn skills from you as you will from us! Our goal is to find enthusiastic, skilled, experienced and very motivated people to help us with these building and creative projects.

We have a beautiful large wood barn dormitory for workawayers to stay in, mattresses and bedding provided. Tent camping also available as we have lots of beautiful space, we prefer tent campers!
Food is provided - self serve breakfast and dinners with communal lunches made with love. Mostly homegrown food, some store-bought for what is considered essential.
Time-limited hot shower is available in moderation, as well as a communal dry compost toilet, and need you to be okay peeing on our trees or in buckets to feed our trees.
We have a portable saw mill that we use to cut and mill our own lumber, along with a professional wood shop, beautiful yoga studio (our dormitory barn) and an outdoor kitchen.
Cell service is available through Verizon or AT&T and is generally reliable, wifi not available as we are off-grid living.
We need people to be comfortable with being uncomfortable! We ask that those coming here will be conscious of the environmental factors of their actions and will be okay with limited use of certain products to continue to care for our planet. We ask that people create minimal trash and waste and try as best as you can to reuse, reduce and recycle. We are also a clothing optional community, so many of us work in our natural bodies, feel free to participate or not as long as you are respectful of other people.
We tend to do our daily tasks in the morning and early afternoon, giving us ample time for reflection, exploration and adventuring in the later hours of the day! Many people like to stay on the property during their time off and read or write or spend time with community members, but there is also ample amounts of exciting things to do in our nearby town, Watsonville. Unfortunately transportation to and from the farm is limited since it is on a mountain but things can be arranged, if you have a car that is preferred. We do encourage people to stay here and really experience life away from the city in a true off-grid living situation! The nearest big city is Santa Cruz which has a lot to do and see, including many beaches for surfing!

You have to be aware that we do not have any indoor spaces to keep pets at the moment, so you would need to be okay with the dog staying in a tent with you or in whatever living situation you can cultivate. We expect well-trained pets that are okay to be left alone with other animals and not harm our land. Your pet should adapt to take direction from community members if we need to tell them they can not be in the garden. It takes a village to care for our fur family and farm!
