    Description

This is a community-owned pub on the Knoydart Peninsula, on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands. We have been community-owned since 2022.

Being a community-owned pub means we are run by the people and for the people. A board of volunteer directors oversee the big decisions and overall business management, and the day-to-day running of the pub is taken care of by our bar manager & chef, supported by a team.

The pub is situated in the rural village of Inverie on the Knoydart peninsula. We are not connected to the mainland road network, therefore the only way to get here is by a 30min ferry ride from the nearby port of Mallaig, or a 2-3 day walk in over the hills! We may be remote in location, but we have an amazing wee community of about 120 folk and you will never be far away from a helping hand or someone to catch up with over coffee.

We are seeking kitchen assistants to join our team for the 2024 season, which will run from mid-March to end-October. Applications from those who can commit for the whole season will be prioritised, and couples are encouraged to apply as we have limited individual staff accommodation units.

Knoydart residents pioneered community land ownership in the late 1990’s, and today a vast swathe of the peninsula is owned and managed by us. You will have the opportunity to learn more about what it’s like to live and work on community-owned land, and play a vital role in securing our community’s future success.

Knoydart is haven for hillwalkers, explorers and nature-lovers. Wild swimming, stargazing, beach bbq’s, climbing hills…there’s something for everyone.

Most importantly of all, we have a wonderful community here and we pride ourselves on being welcoming and offering some real Highland hospitality.
