… read more mind that make me smile. Yes, I feel a bit homesick for Chateau de Belebat and so will you. There’s always something to do, so you will not be bored. If you arrive at Belebat with an open mind, patience and a good attitude, you will fall in love as I did. Unfortunately, my time at Belebat was cut short due to becoming ill, but I swear to any future Workawayers who are considering the chateau, you will not regret your stay. Delicious meals, fresh country air with Chinon and Richelieu only a quick car ride away or a lovely bike ride on the path, you will be living a good life. Thank you to Oscar and Jeffrey for being amazing hosts. I wish all of you the very best in your future endeavors.

Helena and Yuha were AMAZING Workawayers these last couple of months. They helped with cleaning the house, garden work, cooking meals and watching our kids. They work very hard and independently and will be a great asset to any Workaway host.

I enjoyed the cooking, the company, and the experience of looking after the animals. The hosts were very accommodating and introduced me to the local area, so I got to explore the French countryside (Central France is an area that’s new to me). The accommodation was self-contained with a kitchen, bedroom, and shower area, so I had my own space.
… read more Planning to go back either as a guest or Workawayer. My sister wants to experience this, as our relative pointed out that goat sitting was one step up from cat sitting. Working with Jeff, Oscar and the boys was one of the best experiences of my life. They were welcoming, generous and kind and I felt like part of the family. I had plenty to do on the grounds of the beautiful chateau and enjoyed spending my mornings digging, strimming and hoovering. Fully intend to go back some day. Best of luck to you all!

Lizandra was an amazing Workawayers for us! We've had many Workaways and Lizandra is one of the best! Her work was amazing, she worked very well independently and was great to have around. Lizandra was a phenomenal asset to us while she was here for 11 weeks! We would have her back anytime!

What to say about my experience at the Chateau, it was wonderful.
Oscar, Jeff and the boys are a beautiful family with lots of love involved. Myself and another volunteer (Vanessa) stayed for 11 weeks and helped with the ironing of bed linen for the guests, painting, cleaning the houses, moving some items to another room and organising. And what
… read more about the food Oscar made? I simply left there with a few extra kilos hahaha and we learned to play Skip-bo and it was really cool to play together during lunch time.
I learned to love cats, there they are part of the family and very cute. We saw the birth of sheep and it was another indescribable sensation.

Being hosted by Jeff and Oscar was simply fantastic. They are two people who make you feel part of their lives. Their three children gave us a lot of affection. … read more good. We stayed for two months but wanted to do it for longer then a call from Italy forced us to come back. It was very rewarding to be part of their project.
I would recommend anyone who wants to spend time in nature and in a carefree way to come and help at Chateau de Belebat. For three weeks in October, I had the pleasure of living and working alongside Oscar, Jeff and the boys! My time within the Chateau’s walls was a real education in landscaping, renovating, cuisine and most importantly winemaking!
The work I was given throughout my stay was fair and fun! It varied from tree felling to grass cutting,marshalling a
… read more bonfire, hanging curtains and everything in between! Oscar worked alongside me for the bulk of the tasks and offered great insight and knowledge of everything we did. The working hours were relaxed but left me with a feeling of accomplishment by the end of the day. We typically started before lunch and finished at around 5 which left me with time to relax and enjoy the great weather!
My days off were spent mainly with the family as they took the opportunity to show me local Chateaus, Brocantes, vineyards, and restaurants. Jeff and Oscar had a great knowledge of the surrounding towns and Chateaus as well as the landscapes and local farming traditions, so there was plenty to learn as we toured parts of the valley.
My accommodation was fantastic, I was given a bed in their recently renovated barn which was a credit to the couples designing talent and vision! It was fully furnished, and fitted with a modern kitchen equipped with all the mod cons. Unfortunately, I didn't have the pleasure of using the kitchen provided as Oscar took it upon himself to prepare me a home cooked meal morning, noon and night! Oscar’s a cracking chef he prepared traditional French dishes such as quiche and escargot as well as his native Argentine meals, milanesas, and empanadas which were great!
To conclude, I can't say enough good things about having Jeff, Oscar and the boys take me into their home. The project they've chosen to dive into is so exciting and after seeing their passion and plans for the estate it's great to be given the chance to join in!
