Descrição
We are an earth ship, free education center built on an organic moringa, mango, aloe vera, turmeric..etc farm.
We are working our project to self sustainability so that it may generate revenue to run our free education center. We do this through internships, production of natural products and upcycled glassware. We are currently preparing our facility to receive these interns in the future and are seeking volunteers to help us prepare for that.
At our school, we aim to empower the local youth by spreading awareness and education that can enable the villagers to be mindful of themselves and their impact in the environment. We aspire to empower future humanitarians and leaders in sustainable development.
We invite trade-skills professionals, artists, farmers, teachers, and people who want to make the world better to come share their trades. There are many aspects to our program and we would be able to utilize volunteers in a multitude of backgrounds.
We have a three bedroom bungalow on stilts and tents available in rural Kampot. You would be living in a small village of lovely Cambodian people, who are so pleasant to interact with on a day to day basis. It is here you will be able to see how Khmer people live in the countryside.
It is an opportunity to understand a culture, a way of being, doing, way of thinking and perceiving life. This may be a place to ponder life, why the Khmer are always smiling, how to get in rhythm with nature and give of yourself to make Our world better.
A Cambodian family lives on-site, they are very friendly and will invite you to be able to feel what it is like to be apart of their culture. This includes celebrations, cooking together, learning phrases in Khmer, volleyball and swimming in the local waterhole.
We have three bathrooms, running water, a BBQ, and solar electricity. We require those who stay to contribute 25 hours per week of work. We recommend renting a moto from town, so you are able to travel into town for groceries, a night on the town or a day trip to the river or beach.. They generally run at $4 per day. It is important you are responsible for for own trash and pack it in and out on your own or put it into a building project. Be mindful of plastic consumption when buying groceries.
You are welcome to buy your own groceries, use all the on-site facilities and cook your own meals. Or you can have meals with the Khmer family. All we ask is that you contribute $2.50 toward groceries to the Khmer family per meal and they will be happy to cook for you. Srey Srah is an excellent cook and loves to teach how to cook Khmer food.
We are currently making drinking glasses, ashtrays and bottle bricks, the bricks, moringa products, preparing our orders to receive interns, harvesting and drying moringa, setting up a distiller for essential oil and our production facility is slowly getting finished as well.
We hold the space in this project for people to come from all walks of life and contribute a skill, passion and/or lesson to enrich the lives this village and especially our students. All types of classes can be taught from yoga to science to art to building a clay oven! Feel free to be creative!
For those who are farmers, we are always looking to better our farm and seek those passionate about farming and sustainable development.
One week minimum stay. You will be required to rent a Moto or Tuk Tuk to get there.Tipos de ajuda e oportunidades de aprendizado
