    Descrição

We are a rustic wilderness lodge, a community in a protected old growth forest. We welcome frequent visitors who come to remember that there is a quieter existence outside the bustle of "normal" life. We reside on nearly 200 hundred acres of mature forest and wildlife habitat here in the Pacific Northwest that has been stewarded by the same settler family for five generations.

We acknowledge that this sacred land is the traditional lands of the Molalla peoples, who were forcibly removed to the Confederated Tribes of the Grande Ronde reservation. We endeavor to live in right relationship with Mother Earth, heal ancestral wounds and deprogram ourselves from colonizing systems and patterns. We are committed to holding a safe space for all peoples, including QT-BIPOC folks. We center the wellness and healing of ourselves and those in our community circle, so we may all cohabitate peacefully and with integrity.

We have four rustic sleeper cabins and many other accommodations, a cottage, a community lodge with bathrooms and a kitchen, and a bathhouse with a cedar sauna and hot tub. We have a yoga deck overlooking the river along with a swimming beach.

We successfully placed a conservation easement on 150 acres of the land, which will conserve the forest in its natural state in perpetuity. Our 50 acres outside the conservation easement has been developed into a holistic retreat space where we host paid gatherings and events, including weddings. The property is owned by a large family, with Ian (he/him) the caretaker living here full-time with his partner Chel (she/her) and their babies Socrates and Sheba, and Ian’s dad Bill (he/him) visiting every so often to help with building projects.

We have a fair number of visitors, friends, and helpers passing through our communal spaces. We are remote but not too far out there. The closest town, Molalla, is a 15-minute drive, and we are conveniently 50 minutes from Portland. We work hard here, but make time for fun and relaxation too, which may include sharing meals, film screenings, talent shows, sound healing, music and dancing, bonfires, chilling in the hot tub, yoga, meditation, river dips, foraging for mushrooms and edible and medicinal plants, and exploring the forest :)

What will I do in my free time?

    * WE ARE CURRENTLY INTERVIEWING TO FILL 8 VOLUNTEER POSITIONS FOR MAY 1 - JUNE 15. *

I’m Chel Rowan, my husband and I run Trout Creek Wilderness Lodge in Molalla, Oregon.

We are gearing up for a busy summer season, with weddings and retreats booked all summer long. We are looking to bring on a team of hard working and capable people to help us get our grounds ready for the summer season.

What kind of work will you be doing?
The May-June work will involve setting up canvas glamping bell tents, cleaning and preparing the ceremonial and gathering spaces, invasive species removal and trail building, among other tasks.

    What is the time frame?
You could arrive anytime after May 1st, but no later than May 25th, as the week of May 26th is when we need to get all these tasks completed. We ideally want a commitment through June 15th.

The time commitment would be 8-hour days, 4-5 days/week.

If you prove to be a great fit for our team, there may be an opportunity for you to stay on through the entire summer season, through as late as October. If you are selected to stay on, the scope of work from July-October shifts into hospitality and event management, as well as grounds maintenance.

    Is this a paid opportunity?
    Yes.
We can pay $15/hour and will subtract $600/month for lodging and utilities. You will need to complete a W-9 so we can issue you a 1099 at the end of the season for independent contracting services.

We will be reviewing applicants in the next two weeks, and will be making final invitations by May 10th. We will call references for any serious applicants.

Please be in touch if this interests you, and if you think you may be the right fit for Trout Creek Wilderness Lodge!

    Excited to meet you,
    Chel and Ian Rowan
