Description
We have a small school in the city of Quetzaltenango. Our school teaches Spanish classes to foreign visitors, and also English classes to Guatemalan learners. We also aim to provide our students and volunteer teachers with homestays, activities and a great place to hang out, improve their language skills and soak up the atmosphere and culture of Guatemala.
There are different payment/exchange options.
1. You get paid a local salary of Q25 per hour for in-person classes or Q30 per hour for online classes.
2. You can exchange your hours of English tutoring for private Spanish classes.
3. You can exchange 21 hours of English tutoring per week for a homestay with 3 meals a day.
Please note that we are not always able to provide you with 21 hours of work to exchange for a homestay, and options depend on your availability, qualifications, and the demand we have.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

Xela (as Quetzaltenango is known locally) is an amazing city to spend time in, gain a great knowledge of Guatemalan culture and brush up (or start!) your language skills (both Spanish and teaching English skills). You will learn about lesson planning, conversation with English learners and a variety of other teaching skills which can be invaluable for future teaching posts. The school has lots of students (both Guatemalan, and foreign visitors) to get to know, and there are activities all the time which teachers are welcome to participate in, so you will become part of the family.

Aide
We are looking for tutors to teach English to adult learners. These classes are one-to-one (or occasionally 2 students) All the books needed for for the classes are provided, and we are based in a lovely central location. Tutoring experience is preferred, but not a necessity. We ask for a three-month minimum stay so our students have consistency and teachers build up a rapport with the students. Tutors need to be native English speakers (or completely fluent if it is not your first language).

If you work 21 hours, housing can be provided with local families. This consist of a private room (sharing a bathroom), and it includes 3 meals a day with the family, so it is also a great opportunity to practice your Spanish. However you can also work less hours and pay the difference for your homestay, get paid for your hours without a homestay or exchange your English teaching hours for Spanish learning hours.
Autres infos...
There are a wealth of things to do in the local area, from hikes, to community visits, to just hanging out drinking delicious Guatemalan coffee in local cafes. There is a great social scene in town and both lakes and beaches are an easy weekend away.
