Description
I live on a 124 hectare dairy farm,milking 220 cows with some drystock. I have a farm worker who does the main farm work and lives 100 metres away. I have dog,cats, and 2 donkeys that love attention.Very quiet location and very nice rural views.Farm is 5km from Waiotahe Beach, and few minutes from the Ohiwa Harbour,Opotiki is 15 mins away and Whakatane is 30 mins away
If interested in learning about milking the cows and the farm that would be fantastic

Can practice English and teach them the kiwi way...learn where milk comes from and be close to animals and nature .There are several beautiful bush walks and mountain bike tacks nearby. Whakatane is also just 30 minutes drive.Ohiwa Harbour has a small track to which glow worms live with a fantastic view at the top

The kind of help I could need is gardening,housework,firewood,fixing fences(instruction given),cutting firewood(skillsaw),digging,clearing and fixing culvets,bon fires....going on farm to tidy up.
Most of time I would be there to show/help too

A bed in a private room in my big house,shared bathroom with other guests sometimes. Meals to be prepared together and cleaned up together.I do not cater for vegetarians(can cook for self maybe-has worked in the past-I provide food), all meals included in exchange for 4 hours work each day 5 out of 7 days.The bedroom may change from the photo of the one here as I may have other guests also during your stay.

If catching a bus I can collect/drop off in OPOTIKI.

I stayed with Carolyn for a week in late February and had a fab time! Spent most of my working hours weeding and got shown around the farm and helped out during milking a few times too. Absolutely stunning views, and the company - both animal and human - is excellent. I can’t recommend Carolyn’s workaway enough!

My stay at Carolyns was amazing. Her farm is beautiful and it’s a really peaceful and quiet place. I really enjoyed my tasks, which had to do the most with firewood and fencing. I learned a lot about dairy farms and really liked to be with all the animals.

I had a great time on the farm. I enjoyed doing various tasks in the padocks such as weeding and clearing the troughs, various DIY jobs around the farm. Carolyn is a very nice and welcoming host. It was great to hang out with the cat, dogs, horse, donkeys and sheep. I would definitely recommend staying with Carolyn!

Our stay at Carolyns was the best! We loved it there. The accommodation was amazing with a beautiful house and a huge farm, the food was always delicious and also the host was so generous and friendly! We stayed with Carolyn for just over a week and loved our time here! We arrived in calving season so got to see the baby calfs (we even witnessed one being born!). We helped out around the farm and home, the work was fun and Carolyn was a great host! Would highly recommend staying here!
