Description
We are a couple in our 30s and startet on our farm adventure in 2021. We live about 2 hours south of Trondheim, a little higher altitude, countryside. There is an old barn, a cabin in the mountains, grassland, forest, a garage and the house.
The house is partly from 1927 and partly from 1977. It's a lot of work and a long winter, but we like it here.
We do enjoy our breaks, free time and holidays. We like dumpster diving, board games, traveling, music, concerts, gaming, food, hiking and learning new stuff. In the evenings we enjoy talking with our guests, playing board games and watching movies. Some times we go on excursions with our guests to show of the local area or region.
We have traveled, hosted and volunteered ourselves many times in different parts of the world. We actually met 10 years ago through CouchSurfing :) This year Nils has also tried being a worker at some WorkAways in Europe.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

We can teach you about Norwegian life, language and traditions and would love to hear and learn from you. Nils is reading a lot of history and has a special interest in that. We can talk a lot about viking history :)
The region here is full of traditional food, beautiful nature and history. It's an old farming region where the animals stayed in the mountains during summer. Some farmers keep this tradition alive by bringing their animals to a national park in the region. That's also where our cabin is located since previous owners also had a summer farm up there.
Both Røros and Trondheim are about two hours away and definitely also worth a visit.Aide
We are currently renovating the house and are in need of some helping hands and creative minds. It's a DIY project which means we do everything ourselves, piece by piece. We're self-taught with help and advice from friends and family. For more complicated tasks we hire local firms. You will be a helping hand (sending up materials, taking measurements etc), so no previous (construction) knowledge needed. Unless something special is happening, we always work together with our guests. All physical help is outside.
Plans in 2025:
We are also in constant need of firewood, so cutting, splitting, carrying and stacking firewood is always on the menu.
We have a big storage of firewood up in the forest that we need help transporting down to the house and stacking.
Finishing touches on the garage and furnishing a small wood workshop within.
Mirjam, Nils and Nils' father are renovating the barn (adding a green roof), and helping hands here are greatly appreciated.
We also plan to clean the well, and helping hands are needed here as well.
If there are many guests here, preparing food can also be one of the tasks.
But that's more unlikely and everyone's expected to help with the physical work we will be doing outside together.
There is also a a chance that we might start drying the grass in a traditional way this year in late july/early august. We'll need a lot of help with that if that's the case :)Langues

We have 2-3 guestrooms in our house. There is
We are dumpster divers, so 95% of the food is saved from the bins. We have 3 shared meals a day. There is always more than enough food in this house. Our diet depends on what we find, which also includes meat. We don't buy any though. We prefer to host people who eat everything but can host vegetarians.
Our freegan lifestyle is mostly not compatible with strict vegan lifestyle.Autres infos...
Nature, nature, nature
Trips to places in the region (Trondheim and Røros is close and recommended). We live two hours south of Trondheim (by bus). The nearest busstop and train station is 4km down the mountain (usually we can drive you). Unfortunately there are only few departures per day.
We have a big library of english, german and norwegian books and comics that you can read.
There is a TV for streaming, DVD's (we have a lot of those also) and xbox in "the south wing" that you can use.
If you have a car there is a really lovely 1-2 day route you can take to see some rally nice mountains and fjords.Informations complémentaires

They are polite and uncomplicated guests, and such fun to hang with. They are both very interesting to talk to, and their laughter is contagious.
