I spent 10 days with Lucy and Aimi and I could not have had a better first stay in Ireland.
The cabin was cozy and they always made sure I have everything I need.
Usually there were 2-3 tasks a day and they could be very varied - from harvesting flowers to shoveling horse manure - but all were enjoyable and rewarding.
Sometimes we would have a
… read more cup of tea and a snack inbetween and I learned a lot about the reality of owning a farm and managing your time and energy.
On my free days they took me along to other places. I was able to visit Ballydehob, Kinsale and Schull. Spening time with them and their family was very fun and I was also able to go explore these beautiful places on my own.
Admittedly, I was a bit heart-broken to leave such a welcoming place that had become my home for a few days. I'm sure all the other workawayers after me will enjoy their stay here - the love and peace but also the work. Already dreaming of visiting again one day :)

Jay was an excellent person to have work with us. He is highly accomplished at most things he sets himself to. We felt really comfortable describing tasks to him and leaving him to it, knowing all was in good hands. He helped put up a polytunnel frame whilst with us and built some raised beds. … read more task of watering, animal care and re-stocking our van ready for markets whilst we took a holiday away. There are not many people we would trust with this, but we were sure everything was in good hands and Jay was great.
He is trustworthy, competent, hardworking and reliable. Not to mention a really good guy who we enjoyed spending time with. You would be lucky to have him join you on your project.

… read more appreciative of the skills I brought with me and the efforts I made.
I was afforded plenty of privacy in the delightful little cabin; I really felt I could be comfortable in my own space (and pink dressing gown!). I also shared some lovely meals with them and was welcomed into their social circle. The time I spent with their family was some of my best there. Their two legged girls and four legged boys, were a pure delight; entertaining chats and smiles with the little girls, enthusiastic wagging tails and butt scratches with the big boys!
I loved my time with the pigs, chickens and ducks. I enjoyed the variety in, both, the hard work and the gentler days.
Aimi and Lucy are friendly, generous, flexible, communicative, knowledgeable, kind, understanding, empathetic...I could go on.
I hope I was as respectful of their boundaries, as they were of mine.
I was certainly enriched by my time there.
Thankyou both, I hope to see you again.

Aimi and Lucy are wonderful hosts! Staying at their plant nursery was my first workaway experience and it couldn´t have gone better. Between their lovely family, some animals and a variety of projects I can guarantee that noone could ever get bored.

… read more Co. Cork; both Aimi and Lucy have tons of tips where to go exploring depending on your interests. So during my time in Ireland I´ve seen a bunch of interesting places and met amazing people along the way. At St.Patrick´s Day in a colourful pub, while planting over 400 trees or just working in the nursery, every soul I met was incredibly friendly and always up for a chat.
The living arrangements are also perfect for an outdoorsy person: a little cabin by a stream and under an astounding nightsky felt like I walked straight into a poem or a fairytale. I was very comfy and it´s the perfect environment to relax a little.
The work itself was very fun for me. Aimi and Lucy always made sure to vary my tasks and to teach me lots of new things, both of which I really appreciate. They are excellent at giving instructions which made me very confident, no matter what I did. They are also very concerned with their workawayer´s wellbeing: always checking in, if the task is okay, always offering tea and a snack. Even when I asked to do more creative (and maybe at the start of the season less important) tasks, they made sure to find time for those too. It´s really pleasant working with them!
With two energetic and playful dogs and a three year old´s imagination the atmosphere got even more fun.

Fabian is a friendly, easy-going guy and great to get along with. He is playful and fun and matched the energy of our imaginative 3 year old very well. Intact, I think she had him role-playing with her toys the first evening that he arrived!
Fabian is also very creative and it was a joy to see his artwork and see him immerse himself in his environment.

We had the pleasure of hosting Marie for 5 weeks and she really was the ideal helper. She worked really hard to rescue our plant beds from the vigorous weeds that had taken hold, helped mulch our beds with many wheelbarrows of manure, planted, sowed seeds, took cuttings, she really was able to help out with so much, and everything she helped with
… read more looked absolutely fantastic. She is a hard worker with a good attention to detail and we felt very confident leaving her to work independently.
Marie is a wonderful person to be around, she is joyful, open and warm and we enjoyed her company very much. She was incredibly sweet and patient with our 3 year old daughter, who loved pulling her into play at any given opportunity.
Marie is a social person and threw herself headfirst into the community creative days in the lead up to the jazz festival, making friends along the way.
Marie would be an asset to any team. We wish her best with all her future endeavours.

… read more one of my favorite places I know now! I was lucky enough to be there in May for the Ballydehob Jazz festival.
The work on the farm was so wonderful, and very versatile! Lots of weeding, wheelbarrowing poo, some lovely vegetable gardening, and joyful plant nursery work! You have the opportunity to learn a lot about growing with permaculture principles, so ask your questions, Lucy and Aimi have so much knowledge.
The other folks that work on the farm are so amazing, and are people I will always hold so close to my heart!
Spending time with precious Maeve was so heartwarming, and I will never forget that brilliant, hilarious, and kind mind of hers! And her precious baby sister Siofra is the happiest baby I have seen!
These are people I hope to stay close with through time, I highly recommend this beautiful workaway experience.
I would say you should be comfortable and independent if you are work-awaying on your own here. As Aimi and Lucy have young ones, you make most meals on your own, and need to be okay finding new company or being in your own company most evenings!

From April to June in 2023 I stayed for 3 months with Aimi, Lucy and their daughter Maeve at their plant nursery. For me it was the first time doing workaway and it was the perfect experience. … read more accomodation for workawayers down by the little stream, I came with my own campervan which was perfect. I had a spot to park the van next to Aimi and Lucy’s house, overviewing an small gardenbed, and having access to the toilet and shower in the house. Besides me in the van, there were always other workawayers staying in the cabin who were all so lovely, friendly, funny and I had the opportunity to make friends to this day through the work and social space on their land and the activities we could do in the lovely area. For that I’m thankful : )
The work on the farm was very interesting and diverse. I almost never did the same thing two days in a row, which was very nice for the fact that I stayed there so long. I spent most of the time outside in the gardenbeds, in the polytunnels or with the animals. I really enjoyed even the harder workdays, because for me staying 3 months, I really got to see all the work that payed of — my favorite experience: digging the potatoes at the end of my stay (that I planted at the beginning with another workawayer) for the lovely farewell-dinner they organized for me 🧡

Due to Rahel staying in her camper van, we were able to also take other volunteers at the same time, which created a nice social space, Rahel got on really well with all the other volunteers she encountered.

… read more Aimi were always checking in to make sure I had enough food in the cabin and that everything was going okay for me. They were always very considerate about the jobs they asked me to do e.g. if some heavier jobs needed to be done one day, an obvious effort would be made for some lighter jobs to be done the next day if possible.
I stayed in the cabin and me oh my it was a dream. There is a stream very close by that you can get into for a very chilly dip or read a book alongside. You can hear the stream from the cabin and if you sleep with the curtains open you can see the stars through the windows (and if you're lucky, the moon too). I could keep rambling on for days with lots of positive feedback, but all in all I would 100% recommend volunteering with Lucy and Aimi (and Maeve and baby Síofra) and of course the dogs Goose and Meryl and the pigs and all the chickens. I am really very grateful that I got to volunteer with Lucy and Aimi and to learn from them and have a bitta fun! I have definitely come away with lots more knowledge and 2 new friends! (plus the animal friends)

If she ever needed further guidance, she was very good at asking for it, so we felt we could fully trust her with anything we asked her to do! My friend Anne-Sophie and I stayed for almost a month at Lucy's and Aimi's plant nursery farm and it was our first workaway experience. It was just perfect for us! … read more use the shower at there house. There was a lovely stream and a place to sit and enjoy the untouched nature around.
The work was pretty much everything we were looking for. We spend a lot of time working outside when the weather allowed, wich was almost the whole month. Lucy and Aimi made sure that the work was very varied and no workday was the same - harder and lighter tasks were very balanced. We even got to babysit a bit or go to a garden festival as a support which we really enjoyed.
They both work a lot, but when the time allowed they would make sure to take us with them to the beach or to a nice day trip. On our days off we could come with them to the market and explore the area - which was always nice since we didn't have a car with us.
Other than that we are very greatful for the wonderful time we had with you guys chatting, listening to "good" music in the car, drinking tea, just sitting in the garden during our breaks and simply be.
To describe my stay in just a few words: decelerating, challenging (in the most positive way) and heartwarming.
I would always come back!

In winter, the cabin is something haha! I recommend you to not use it in winter because it is cold and wet. Except if you want to live an experience ! But i am sure that in Soring or Summer it might be beautiful! I knew it will been that but i accepted and i lived in this cabin for 2 weeks and now i laugh about this amazing experience haha
I took care about Maev 2 or 3 days and i loved it. She is really mature for her age and so lovely 🥰
We went out for St Patrick's day and for Aimi's concert and shoppings in Bantry.
I enjoyed living with them and i learned different things about plants and about me too.

… read more manure, tending to animals, putting up a poly tunnel, potting plants, to name a few things,... she was very capable of everything we felt confident to describe the task and leave her to it.
Shayel is the kind of person who wants to do a good job, she will ask for clarification on something if unsure and is good at problem solving if things don't go as planned. We were very happy with all the work she did.
She often looked after our daughter for a few hours and was just wonderful with her, our daughter adores her.
Shayel is a kind, empathetic person with a curious mind who is lovely to be around, we enjoyed very much the time we spent with her and feel that she has very truly left her mark on the farm and on us.
A special mention has to be made of the huge pile of gravel this woman helped us shift, not to mention all the seaweed and manure, a mighty woman indeed!

Lucy and Aimi are also very nice hosts, they always make sure you have everything you need (including the freshest veggies from their garden!!), can give you a ride when it fits their schedule, and they even let my brother and a friend come for the weekends so that I could show them the surroundings. I feel really grateful!
The work I did was very pleasant as they always took time to explain and teach me carefully what to do. Hence, even if I had not much experience in farming, I felt useful thanks to them ! I also looked after their little girl who's a lovely kid.

She got on very well with our two male dogs and was very well behaved both inside and outside the house. You would be very lucky to have Nico come to work with you. I was with Lucy and Aimy during 2 weeks. Since I went to the farm I was surprised about the real work they do to maintain everything in the vegtable garden. They work really hard. And I too! I worked from 9am to 2pm from 5 days a week. My main work was picking stones, removing sludges from the pots,
… read more potting plants, digging, carry stones and so on. The first days I had a lot of stiffs jaja. But the next days they were disolved with more work jajaja. Thanks god I had 2 days off a week... jajaja. In these days they offered me go with them to see other places when they went to sell the plants to the market. I remebered the walk to Bantry... beautiful!
Really, Lucy and Aimy were great. They were very supportive the first days with me to understand all the tasks I needed to do. Also they invited me to go with their friends in another farm and a jazz music festival in Ballydehob. One important thing, they have 2 beautiful dogs, Goose and Mel. I used to play with them almost all the time. They were very beautiful.
Finally I would want to tell thanks to you about all I learned and experienced. It was fantastic to know how you work in a eco-proyect.

I had so much fun working on Aimi and Lucy's plant nursery for two weeks. I quickly felt at home on their beautiful farm and I can't wait to see how it grows. … read more conversations over the YUMMY meals we ate and I miss sitting around the fire in the evenings. Lucy is a great cook and I loved cooking dinner with her and learning some of her recipes. I also think some of the songs Aimi sang (beautifully) were stuck in my head for days after leaving the farm! Lucy and Aimi have a cozy and welcoming home that I was sad to leave. The valley that the farm is tucked into is beautiful as is the vision they have for it.

The only thing I have to say is that I had to share this experience with another German girl, and we were very different and we were not always well. (She was a sow).
