We both retired in 6/2022 and started our new life in Europe! We like nature and the varied cultures found around every bend. We often find humor in what we do & have learned to expect the unexpected!

Description

My husband, Leigh, and I retired in June 2022, rented out our home in Tucson, Arizona and, along with our two Beagles (sisters), moved to Italy, for starters, as my son and his wife live there. But onward......there is so much more to see and experience here in Europe (and currently, Morocco)!

Both of us would rather hike through a forest along a windy river than stand in line to view another church....not that churches are wrong or bad, but nature and its beauty are what we are drawn to. We love water, especially, whether it be lakes, rivers, or seas, but open spaces and forests also have their own beauty. We were fortunate to have lived in Hawaii for 5 years.....that was a dream come true, and where we became aware of the cultural differences and embraced the opportunity to learn more about the various customs, food, language, and beliefs.

We have our own 4-wheel drive car, in case you are wondering😉.

Although we are both in our 60's, our brains dont necessarily agree, so we like to stay as active as we possibly can! Who packs up or sells their belongings and simply moves to another part of the world? We do, in fact, we have done this once before, in 2016-17, we left Hawaii and moved to Nicaragua for a while, then moved over to Mexico's Yucatan Penisula. In both places, we volunteered our services, physical labor and language practice.

We are interested in sharing our English language with others. We both volunteered teaching English while we were in Nicaragua and Mexico, and learning the conversational basics of other languages.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

We both like projects, although we like different aspects of them. Give Leigh instructions and he follows them; he is a hard worker and likes to see projects completed, if time allows. He enjoys hands-on projects.

I like projects also, but I really enjoy troubleshooting and figuring out how to creatively fix a problem or situation.

We both have extensive experience in working with people of all ages. Leigh is a counselor and has worked in a variety of positions including addiction/behavioral counseling, personal trainer, and health & fitness coaching. He also has experience as a painter and as a merchandiser.

I retired from two careers....one as a sales consultant in the decorating business and another as a special education Language Arts teacher. I enjoyed both very much, as working with people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds is very appealing to me.

We both enjoy dogs and know the joy they bring to their owners.......it's hard to explain that to a non-pet owner. We had numerous people (all non-pet owners) ask us "Do you really want to take your dogs all the way to Europe"? They are family, in every sense of the word!! While Leigh and I are ok with cats, our beagles are learning to live among the many street cats in Turkey and Morocco. While they simply ignore the majority of cats now, for some unknown reason, they vocally react to others. We can’t figure it out! But other dogs and or animals, inside or outside, do not present a problem. In reality, our beagles have never harmed anyone....they really just love to sleep……all day if we let them!

We enjoy board and card games, whether they be silly and full of laughs, or ones that involve strategy. We are always open to learning something new!

We really enjoy 2-man kayaking in on-top kayaks.... in water where you don't need a wetsuit! We swim, walk and hike for exercise, or if a gym is nearby, we'll visit that, too.
