:D Hello!! ~~~

My name is Victoria, I am 27 years old and from the UK. I'm currently based in Hertfordshire, and am soon to be moving to Madrid! Right now I am travelling around Germany for January, seeing what treasures I come across on my way.

I have absolutely loved experiencing the treasures of Workaway in the past - from being an au pair in Barcelona to working at a hostel in Australia, working on eco-projects and living in a cave in Southern Spain to being an assistant woodworker in Canada - I am endlessly passionate about soaking in new experiences and knowledge from different corners of our wonderful planet. For my next step, I'm excited to explore nourishing projects and communities closer to home.

During lockdown I rather randomly learned how to code, and have since been working as a web/app developer. Currently I help develop a tech-for-good app related to recycling plastic and more generally the circular economy. My job is fully remote and I have permission to carry out volunteering while working (can provide proof if needed). My working hours are somewhat flexible but since I do work full time, I would need steady internet connection and a space to work in for ~7 hours each day. For this reason, the most ideal times for me to engage in volunteer work would be early mornings, lunch times and evenings, but I am very happy to talk with you to understand how an agreement that works for everyone could be made.

I strive to lead a life full of empathy, curiosity, and joy. I have many passions: writing short stories and poetry, DJing, designing and making my own clothes and jewellery, yoga, learning Spanish, reading. I studied Biology at university, and carry always a deep investment in the intricacies of our beautiful planet and how we can try to heal it, as well as ourselves. I live a vegan lifestyle for both animal welfare and environmental reasons. Prior to beginning a career in coding, I was working at an educational charity, teaching children (7-8yrs) about Prehistory through hands-on outdoor learning at an Iron Age settlement and also working behind the scenes fundraising etc.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

As a quick learner and someone that thrives in unfamiliar & exciting environments, I love the process of adapting to new processes and getting stuck in with a smile on my face. I take great pleasure in working hard as part of a team or solo - whatever the task at hand requires.

I have tonnes of volunteer experience in all kinds of areas including running workshops, stewarding, crafts, building, cooking, cleaning and childcare. I have enjoyed multiple public-facing roles and know how to conduct myself with emotional intelligence and patience.

I am a good writer, and have experience in writing prose, poetry, articles.

I can operate both Windows and Mac and would be happy to share coding skills.

I regularly practice crafts including sewing and textiles and love to be creative with my hands.

I enjoy interior design alot and transforming spaces into beautiful sanctuaries.

I am invested in academia, and find scientific and philosophical texts very interesting.
