Hey, it's me, Martin!
I'm glad that you opened my profile and are interested in reading more about me.
I'm a 23-year-old guy from the Czech Republic, from a small village in the south of Bohemia. I grew up on a small farm with a lot of different animals like cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, rabbits, cats, dogs and even our lovely turtles. This background gives me a lot of experience of everyday farm life and the customs that go with it. I'm good at taking care of animals, working with wood, painting, gardening and all the other tasks associated with rural life.

When I was 15, I left my village to change my life. I started to live in Brno, the second biggest city in the Czech Republic, where I started to study multimedia, especially film making, graphic design and photography. This changed my life a bit and gave me a different experience of living in a big city, but the art community also opened my mind a lot and had a significant influence on me.

Later I started studying Journalism and Politics, which gave me more exposure to world issues, opened my mind again and also gave me the opportunity to spend six months in Istanbul, Turkey. Later I finished my studies and decided to take a gap year. During this time I went back to Turkey and started volunteering in a very eastern part of the country where we taught English to disadvantaged Turkish and Syrian refugee children.

I'm planning to join the Masters in Beirut, Lebanon in September. But before that, I need some more adventure and that's what brings me to WorkAway.

I'm a passionate traveller who loves to meet new people, learn about their cultures and share different experiences. That's why I like hitchhiking, couchsurfing or work away - they can give you a true and real experience from the local people.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

As I mentioned before, I grew up on a small farm in the south of Bohemia, Czech Republic. I can take care of all kinds of animals, do gardening, work with wood, paint, mow the lawn and other tasks related to farm life.

I also spend some time in the professional kitchen. I'm not a professional chef, but I have no problem helping with chopping vegetables, preparing meals, serving and even being a waiter. I love to cook and can make different dishes from all over the world, but would not take on the responsibility of a large professional kitchen alone.

I'm also a professional photographer and part-time graphic designer, so any kind of creative work is fun!

As my volunteering in Turkey focused on children, I can also do basic babysitting or English classes.
