Hi, my name is Sophie! Travelling has always been a passion of mine from learning about different cultures to meeting new people and visiting and witnessing amazing landscapes. Some of my favourite things to do are hiking, camping, swimming, attending shows i.e stand up comedy or cabaret, going to the cinema or out to dinner. I am very passionate about animals and animal welfare and helping others so I always try to incorporate volunteer projects into my travels. I have been vegan for 7 years and happy to teach you about this.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have a professional skillset that makes me very adaptable in any working environment. I am always happy to chat about what I do as I love educating others and feel it is important to share our knowledge and experiences with each other. I am hard-working and am passionate about helping others including animals. I can work independently and am willing to tackle any job with enthusiasm. I am a very quick learner and am happy to take direction and constructive feedback. I love animals and I feel very relaxed around them and have had a lot of experience with domestic animals, mainly dogs, cats and horses.
I have good communication skills and I am trained in conflict resolution. I also have a positive outlook on life whilst also acknowledging challenging emotions and proactively working through those.
Working with Animals:
I have previously worked in a Elephant Sanctuary in Thailand for one month tending to the elephants and doing tasks such as: cleaning enclosures, bathing the animals and food prep. I have worked at a dog sanctuary in India for 2 weeks, Thailand for 3 and in Australia for one year, where the work was much the same of cleaning and feeding with the addition of nurturing puppies and adult dogs. In all of these organisations the animals came from abusive and neglectful environments and would often have trauma so learning body language was very important in my role for the safety of myself and the animals.
Working with Humans:
Before travelling I worked in the helping profession in Australia and have worked cross many fields predominately with disadvantaged or vulnerable children and families. I enjoy working with people and it is a value of mine to empower people within my work and community. I think educating others is important and I am always open to having those conversations. My degree and working experience has allowed me to develop interpersonal skills and conflict resolutions skills that have been a vital part of both my professional and personal life.

I am looking for somewhere to explore, learn, work hard and meet new people. At the moment I'm looking for stays with tasks I can focus my energy on after a year of travelling non stop! I am open to caring for children or animals. I am open minded so despite any differences in values or beliefs, I find I can get along with anyone.
