Description
My 13-year-old son and I both started studying Japanese this year and our goal is to spend the summer in Japan, to immerse ourselves in the culture and language and participate in a cultural exchange. I had the opportunity to live in Belgium for a year when I was a child, and it inspired my love of travel, learning about other cultures, and meeting people around the world. I ended up later studying in Australia, volunteering in Finland, and working in Switzerland. Now I work as an English language teacher in an elementary school in my hometown in the United States, supporting children and families who have recently arrived. I would like my son to have the chance to experience life in another country in order to expand his knowledge and perspectives on the world, and we look forward to this adventure together!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
I've been an elementary school teacher for 22 years, have a degree in early childhood education, have been a parent for the past 13 years. I love spending time with kids, helping them learn new skills, solve problems, and grow through play, especially in the outdoors. I am used to juggling houshold duties including cooking, cleaning, and managing a family schedule. I would enjoy learning to cook Japanese foods and am also happy to cook some of my favorite meals for you and help with whatever is needed. My son will be a fun playmate and role model for younger kids, can help with light household tasks, and is excited to be part of a language and culture exchange too!

Autres infos...
We are excited about the possibility of a cultural exchange with another family, where we can share our foods, traditions, and perspectives, and learn about yours! Some activities we enjoy include exploring new places, playing board games, cooking, reading, doing crafts, camping, and skiing. My son also enjoys building with Legos, drawing, 3-D printing, and learning about science and history.
