Description

I'm Sriram(Victor) from India. I have been solo travelling frequently/globally for the past 14+ years. 50+ countries and counting... I have visited all 28 states and 8 union territories of India but still have lots more to cover...

I love exploring new places, meeting locals/other travellers, experiencing new cultures, volunteering & helping out as and when i can, and, generally soaking in all nice things every country/place has to offer.

I'm a non-smoker/drinker, mostly vegetarian and a mature/responsible traveller. I'm a healthy male in the early 60s, with a positive, humourous and cooperative attitude. I love the outdoors, enjoy physically-intensive work, spirituality, meditation, and, learning/trying out new things.

In my working career, I've donned many hats across several industry sectors. I'm now an occasional freelancer/independent consultant, but mostly just volunteer around.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I love the outdoors and enjoy doing physically-intensive work. I look forward to working in farms, homesteads and with animals.

I would very much like to learn new skills - construction, carpentry, plumbing, working with farm animals, gardening, farming equipment/vehicles, electrical/mechanical work etc. I am a quick learner and do not shy away from hard work. My goal is to freely share newly-acquired skills with others.

I am proficient with office/administrative work, research/analysis/writing summaries & reports, computers/internet, communicating with others, liaisoning, teaching etc. My English language skills are very advanced.

I am a regular jogger/walker, cycling enthusiast, physical workout etc. I also practice vipassana meditation and some yoga.

I am an avid reader of varied topics and am currently very interested in philosophy. My academic ambition is to earn a doctoral degree in business/philosophy.

Victoria and Tim are one of the most considerate, kind and accommodative hosts one can ever hope to meet. What particularly appealed to me is their policy of allocating tasks to workawayers and letting the workawayers decide their hours and work … read more schedule. I thought it was a very smart move as it makes the workawayers feel more empowered and valued. This in turn results in more commitment, result-orientation and also, increased productivity/creativity.

Tim came to receive me late at night at the bus drop-off point, took me for some late night shopping for food, made sure I was comfortable in my camper. Next morning, I was taken on a tour of the farm and some of the ongoing projects were explained to me. In the next evening, I was invited to a welcome dinner. I was encouraged to set my own pace and schedule allocated tasks, according to me preference. There was no pressure/micro-management.

In the 2nd week, I suffered a back injury during a task. Victoria offered all support and help and urged me to take complete rest, until I recovered. Luckily, recovery was quick for me and i slowly eased back into work mode after 2 days of rest. There was no pressure to complete pending tasks. I took it easy for a day or two after resuming work and gradually upped the ante. I was allowed to be cautious and complete my hours the following week.

Tim took me shopping whenever I requested. I was also invited to a very enjoyable birthday party for 4 birthdays occuring within a few days. The other Workawayer was always very helpful/supportive, and always at hand whenever i needed help.

One weekend morning, Tim once drove me to Tucson city and i explored around. In the evening, Victoria drove me back to the farm. Tim also drove me to the bus station early morning on the day of departure. One of the nicest/coolest Workaway hosts you'll ever meet.

All tasks were reasonable/doable, with Tim/Victoria always around to guide. Once more, I got to learn new skills and get farm-work experience. I got more than enough time for personal pursuits. The farm offers all modern conveniences incl wifi. & abundant water.

Truly, a dream Workaway project. Right in the heart of the Sonoran desert, away from all the noise/clutter/chaos... ideal to relax, just chill, enjoy nature/solitude, meditation, yoga, star gazing, painting, reading, studying, researching, hiking, etc etc. Don't miss out on this one.
