Hello, I'm Pim and I'm from Breda in The Netherlands.

I'm an Garden Designer and Artist. Traveling is my passion and I really like working and living with locals. I think this is more meaningful as opposed to being a standard tourist . It's such a nice way to travel. I have a light form of autism but many people don't notice that because I'm social and intelligent.

I am excited to get to work and learn new things. I have a great feeling and love for gardening and designing, taking care of plants and animals and helping out around the house. I am great with cats and dogs. I can also use my creativity to help out with things like art. I painted a mural in hawai'i and help design the garden in Germany.

I also really like exploring new areas.

My personal interests are visiting theme parks, playing bass guitar, making art, running, collecting minerals, and maintaining my plants.

I also worked (internships) in numerous media/graphic design companies.
I studied film and animation and media design.
I started my own brand called Happy Moai, based on the statues from Easter island, and I will start another called Happy Hoggy about a cute hedgehog character.

I have also worked on a bean/cauliflower farm and in a Asian supermarket and selling action ride pictures in a theme park called Efteling(very famous here).

My stay in Hawai'i at Dottie and Tim was an amazing experience. For years it has been my dream to visit Hawai'i and I'm glad I picked Dottie and Tim for my first stay on the big island. They opened there arms and welcomed me in their ohana. Even though I was a bit stressed out from my flight, they made sure I was comfortable at arrival. I have… read more many nice memories from playing farkle to working together in the garden and meeting with friends/family and peeling cacaobeans. I was invited for 2 birthdays and wish I would have stayed longer to have my own birthday there as well. I got some good tips and feedback on questions I had about the island and other islands. I was able to trade in some work hours and go to Kauai and O'ahu for 4 days which was awesome! And I got to meet Yuanzhen from China!

They have a really cool house with lot's of lanai's and the apartment I stayed in was the best and I was able to cook my own meals and drive a car which was very nice. It gave a lot of freedom and there is a lot of nice places to drive to like Hilo, Volcanoes N Park, Laupahoehoe, Kona, and getting groceries ofcourse.

Hawaii is also what locals call the big island and it's way bigger then the other islands and that's also what I like about it. The variety in climates is nice. One moment it rains in Hilo and then you drive 10 min up north up the coast and it is sunny. Or you go up Saddle Road and it get's colder untill reaching Kona which is warmer again. And I saw multiple volcanic eruptions and those are special to see! Also Tim and Katie took me to Carlsmith Beach to go snorkeling and I saw beautiful fishes and seaturtles! The Green Sand beach is interesting but the pickuptrucks taking you there are a wild experience.

My work consisted of gardening like clearing weeds, feeding the chickens, woodworking with Tim for the house and creating new garden beds with lava rocks for the many papayas I planted, called Pim's Papaya Plantation haha. And I got to paint one of there walls into flowing lava! Bonus things are pollinating vanilla, harvasting honey, cacaobeans and eating the fruits from the garden.
I chose to work early at 7:30 so I had more time to explore the island later and that was also less hot that way. I learned more about gardening with exotic plants and used some of my knowledge and ideas as well and it was fun to think of ideas with Dottie.

I'm grateful for this experience and I will be back for sure because of Tim and Dottie and all the nice people I met and the love I have for Hawai'! I recommend staying!

The last 2 weeks I stayed and volunteered in Germany. It was a great experience were I got to know a lot of nice people and 2 other awesome workawayers of whom I spend most time with.

Staying with Ariel and Matt was a lot of fun. I stayed at their redwood home in Ben Lomond for 4 weeks and it was an amazing adventure overall. I don't even know where to start because we have done so many amazing things.
