Originally from New York City, I love exploring urban cultures, especially art, music, and comedy scenes. I am about to graduate from Duke University with a degree in English and Engineering, and I am looking to squeeze in some fun travel during my gap year and to get exposure to new cultures, foods, languages, etc. Eventually, I want to go back to school and get a PhD in English. I am definitely interested in education --- and would love to help teach children anything from English to software engineering!

I have cared for my now-6-year-old brother since I was 15, so I am very good with children. I have also taught at my University and at local high schools, so I have training in teaching. Likewise, I have three dogs, and I love caring for and playing with pets of all kinds.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

As an English and Engineering student at Duke University, I have a substantial background in academia. I am primarily a writer, and have published everything from a 100-page thesis for my English degree, to creative non-fiction pieces just for fun. I also have very strong teaching skills. I recently taught a 40 person lecture in art criticism, focusing on the works of Bob Dylan. Likewise, I have also taught classes in everything from software engineering to finance, with students ranging from 6-year-olds to 21-year-olds.

In the past, I have worked at a software engineering start-up, a movie theater, a podcast production company, and a book store. I have experience in computer programming, food service, and film production. I am very versatile, and I am a quick learner. Likewise, I am fairly active and can certainly assist in manual labor, from gardening to building, etc.
