Hello Everyone! My name is Marie :) At the moment, I am living in the Netherlands where I studied interdisciplinary social sciences. Currently, I am searching for a host/job in Istanbul not only to spend more time in this lively, magical city but also because I seek to connect to more people and at best improve my little Turkish skills.
I have been working in the hospitality sector for almost 8 years now, and I am working as an assistant chef in a large restaurant at the moment. Before that, I also worked in smaller restaurants and cafes and one thing all of them have in common is the importance of cooking good-quality, handmade products with care and love. Hence, I find much joy in preparing food, if needed also under pressure. Working with people is very important to me, which I also experienced while being a receptionist in a busy hostel in Barcelona.
I am passionate about writing, reading, and researching, especially in the field of sociology. In my research, my focus lies particularly on societal inequalities and livelihoods based on income and social security, but also outside of that, I find a lot of value in listening to people's diverse life stories.
Moreover, I am a movement enthusiast and passionate about dancing, in particular contemporary dance. For me, dancing is a meaningful form of expression, an art form, and an activity in which I feel at home. Hence, I am always curious to learn about traditional dances, folk dance and how they are embedded in culture.
Overall, I am a very open-minded and respectful person, curious to embrace new challenges and tasks, and happy to contribute with my skills wherever they may be needed. I am looking for people who like to share their culture, stories, and part of their life where I can feel equally respected :)
