Description

I believe life is deserving of being lived to the fullest, rather than passively experiencing it. My life is currently centered around personal growth, prioritizing travel whenever possible and achieving financial freedom. I'm a hard worker who loves to be challenged and to learn, so I'm up for whatever tasks you ask! Currently I live in Queens, NY and work as a film accountant. Fortunately, my work allows me to travel between gigs, and the time between my current gig and next one is 2-3 months.

I started using Workaway in 2021 while I was traveling with my ex-partner Natalie (who you'll see mentioned in my feedback.) We travelled the United States in our motorhome for 3 years doing 4 different Workaways (and re-visiting a few of them), seeing 33 National Parks, hosting friends who flew out to see us, and so much more! I've met some amazing people using this site and have made lifetime friendships. I'm very excited to be back on here for my trip to Italy!

I've always been interested in how others live, and interested in how they see the world around them. There's something very special to me after working hard during the day to enjoy some food and drinks around a table sharing stories, music and laughs. Whether that work is cleaning up around the house, picking weeds in the hot sun, wrangling sheep to give them medicine, building a shed in the middle of the desert, it always feels good to help wherever help is needed. I'd say I'm pretty handy, especially when it comes to DIY ingenuity. I'm comfortable with power tools and heavier machinery. I'm always looking to learn a new skill or a new way of going about things.

I grew up in a Long Island Italian-American household, and frustratingly even though Italian was spoken it was never taught. Now, at 27 years of age, I've taken a serious interest in learning the language properly! Sto imparando con libri, musica e podcasts, ma bisogno di parlare con le persone. I also just have a general interest in all languages & love learning different words and phrases from others!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I like to think I'm a jack of all trades. My most useful skill is my problem-solving ability. I love a good challenge. I mentioned above I'm good with power tools and heavier machinery. I love working in the field doing things like: picking weeds, designing garden beds, planting seeds, tending to growing plants, landscape designing, tending to animals, harvesting, composting, etc. I'm a decent carpenter, although I would not charge someone for my services! I most recently designed & built a bookcase for my apartment which I take great pride in. I'd like to learn more about the general trades: plumbing, electric, carpentry, welding, etc. I'm good with kids as well and like to teach them things like cooking & baking.

I have 2 cats, Billie & Peanut, who I adore. We moved to Queens in September 2024 after a few years of RV traveling so I can get my career as a film accountant started. I don't know if film accounting is what I'll be doing for the rest of my life, but as of now I love the work I do, and I love the people that I get to meet with every new gig. In my free time I love to read, write, listen to & play music, cook, bake, explore new areas in my city, walk, hike. My favorite museum is the Museum of Moving Image right here in Queens. I have a dream to own a small sailboat even though I've only sailed twice in my life. I'm apart of the political committee within my union and love to talk politics with whoever is capable of empathy. My politics lean left, but if we can agree that all humans deserve the basic necessities (good quality food, water, air, housing, healthcare, comfort) we'll get along!
