Hello! I'm Macey, a 22 year old medical student from the UK excited to spend some time this summer living somewhere different and meeting new people. The past year has been very full on for me with university placements and hospital life, and I've realised how much I want to step outside my normal routine, challenge myself and be immersed in a different culture. I'm a curious person and can't wait to learn more about a place through its everyday life - the people, routines, traditions, language, and of course the local food!

I'm definitely a people person. I love meeting people from different backgrounds, which is one of the things thats drawn me to Workaway. Connecting with so many people from different walks of life and hearing their stories has been one of my favourite things about placement this year, and I can't wait to hear more.

Studying medicine has made me adaptable, hardworking, calm under pressure and confident communicating with others. I genuinely enjoy helping people and working as a team. I'm always happy getting stuck into practical tasks, helping wherever I can.

Outside of university, I love nature, swimming, walking, exploring new towns and beaches, being active and spending time outdoors. One of the biggest things I want from this experience is to become more confident outside my comfort zone as well as the chance to learn another language on the way.

Although I'm new to Workaway, I'm really excited to travel slower and really get to know a place and its people. I am excited to make real connections with people, contribute in a positive way, and learn from the people and places around me.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I'm currently studying medicine in the UK, which has made me hardworking, adaptable, organised and calm under pressure. Through placements and university life, I've become confident communicating with all kinds of people, thinking quickly on my feet and working well in busy environments. I've also become good at time management and balancing a lot at once.

I like to be busy and get stuck in, I'm very happy helping with practical day to day tasks. I enjoy being hands-on, practical and creative. I'm clean, organised, reliable, and quick to learn new things.

Alongside university, I've worked as a barista for the past five years. This has made me even better at working as a team and communicating with people in fast-paced environments. The friendships i've made with my co-workers is one of my favourite parts of the job. Plus, I can make a pretty good coffee!

I really enjoy cooking and would love to help with meal preparation or cook for others. I love making healthy, balanced meals and trying new foods. One of the things I'm most exciting about when travelling is trying the local food. I love the social side of cooking and sharing meals with people.

I have experience babysitting and working with children, and I'd describe myself as naturally caring, patient and responsible. I also have a younger sister, so I've become pretty good at keeping children entertained and creating a fun, positive environment.

I've also done pet sitting for cats, dogs and chickens, and I have a dog of my own, so I'm very comfortable around animals and would be more than happy helping care for other pets too.

I'm a really easy-going person and curious person who loves being out and about exploring new places. I like to stay active and enjoy going for walks and runs, especially when I'm somewhere new. I also really enjoy being creative and making things - in my free time I like scrapbooking, and making presents and cards for my friends and family. I'm also a big fan of a good card game and would love to learn more!
