Description
Hi there! I am Liza, a writer and artist from Latvia. I was born in Riga, and after school moved to Berlin to follow my inspiration and do a BA degree in Liberal Arts. Currently back in my home country to focus on a creative project inspired by the Baltic Sea.
As a person, I am friendly and calm, a good listener. My favourite things in life include books, oil painting, quiet time with friends and seaside. When travelling, I like company and am interested in people's stories, but am also pretty unobtrusive as a guest. I joined Workaway because I want to connect with new places and cultures through the perspective of people who feel at home there.
I try to live with awareness and be a friend to our beautiful blue-and-green planet.
When it comes to work, I am quick to learn new skills, ready to take responsibility, comfortable with both independent tasks and teamwork. Since graduation I have combined personal creative projects with working with children and cafe jobs. One amazing thing I've done recently was inspire an 8 y.o. girl to want to become an artist!
I can help you with:
- Visual arts and writing projects: creative writing, drawing and painting skills, can provide a portfolio on request!
Currently especially interested in organizing creative workshops or developing general teaching skills with children/teenagers/adults with migrant background. Have experience with teaching academic writing in English and offering arts and crafts workshops.
Also interested in developing blogging skills. Did editorial internships for magazines in the field of arts and culture.
- Hospitality&tourism: 3+ years experience working in cafes. Excellent barista skills, waitressing, equipment and space maintenance, customer service.. Went through many a rush hour with a smile!
- General help around your household: I have experience looking after kids (7-9 y.o.), caring for dogs, can cook veggie meals and do basic gardening tasks.

Tutoring (English and arts): have worked with children (5-9 y.o.), teenagers, undergraduate students.
Hospitality & tourism: barista skills, waitressing, friendly customer service, basic kitchen assistance, cleaning of common areas and kitchen equipment maintenance etc. 3+ yrs experience. Time efficient, stress proof, calm and positive mindset! Can communicate in 4 languages.
Gardening: basic skills like planting flower beds, raking, etc. Worked in the territory maintenance department of an outdoors ethnographic museum for one summer.
