Hello/Salve, I’m Lauren!

I am a curious and adventurous person, described by my family and friends as positive, funny, kind, and determined. I have a deep interest in life, all the opportunities it holds, and a desire to connect with others.

I am studying film, recently finished for the summer and later moving to Toronto for more school late this fall. I am passionate about many things, but my biggest goal is to one day create films that have important messages and meaning.

I have always loved travel, and have been lucky to have done two different stays with workaway hosts in Italy. I fell in love with the country, culture, language, and lifestyle. I am eager to return and am seeking available hosts. I am currently reapplying for my visa, and I have continued studying speaking Italian while at home.

I decided to use workaway because of my interest in gaining knowledge of the world, connecting with others, and assisting anyone in need of help. I am always growing and aiming to be the best version of myself possible, so I am very grateful to my past hosts who have made this possible for me.

I did well in English classes, I enjoy reading and writing, and feel I could certainly help others practice/perfect their English. My previous stay was with a family, helping them practice speaking in english. I have been studying Italian and can speak/understand in some conversations - but am eager to improve!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Since graduating high school, I have began studying psychology, culinary arts/baking, and business, but with such a wide variety of interests I have yet to decide on what to pursue in university so am waiting to return to school until I have chosen the right path for myself.

I am fluent in english, and feel I could assist others in practicing the language as well. I would love to learn other languages if given the opportunity!

I have worked as a barista in multiple coffee shops over the years, and have substantial knowledge of coffee and a love for latte art!

I would love to offer workaway hosts with any help/skills that I already possess, or new ones I could be taught as I am a fast and enthusiastic learner. I live by myself with my dog, so I am familiar with usual housework - like tidying, painting, redecorating or even small fixes. Additionally I have had many pets (dogs, a cat, a large fish tank, bunnies, and even a hedgehog) so am very passionate about spending time with or helping animals. In the past, I’ve also volunteered in a children’s museum, and a senior care home. I always love cooking/baking for others, and I am also pretty experienced with plants, having a diverse collection in my house, growing vegetables outside in the summer, and I have even worked in a greenhouse.

Most importantly I am open to being taught new skills in other areas not mentioned, and even if I had no prior experience, I always try my best and tend to pick up new skills fast.

I try to be consistent with meditation and mindfulness, and would love to get better at yoga. Growing up I did gymnastics, dance, and even some circus arts, so I try to maintain some level of athleticism.

I am a huge music lover. Playing instruments all my life: violin for 14 years, piano lessons, beginner level guitar and ukulele, and band instruments in school such as clarinet and oboe. I enjoy listening to all genres of music (and singing along when I’m on my own!).
