Hi! We are Kirsten and Guy, nice to meet you!
In the summer of '23 we decided to leave our settled life behind, because we felt the need to explore the Indonesian culture more. Guy is half Indonesian since his mother was born in Jakarta. Even though he got a little bit of the taste of the Indonesian culture growing up in the Netherlands (especially in food and the love for his family) he wanted to really appreciate the Indonesian culture from up close. Back to his roots! Kirsten traveled through Indonesia before and somehow feels at home! We both are really keen to learn Bahasa Indonesia, and we already started with the basics. We both are experienced English speakers, so we are very open to teach English as well.

'I worked as a shopmanager in a local fashion store, where I trained and managed a group of young people. Next to a shopmanager, I am a photographer, with a focus on street and travel photography. I have a big love for nature, especially plants, dogs and birds. Our house in Haarlem started to have jungle vibes since I can't help to adopt every sad looking plant I see! They are in good hands now fortunately ;) With Workaway I want to take the opportunity to learn more about the Indonesian culture, nature, language, meeting new people and to use my spare time for upping my photography game'.
Kirsten
'I also worked as a manager in a fashion store. I was responsible for the buying of the high end brands, the visual merchandising and graphics for off and online marketing. I worked as a graphic designer before and created websites, logos and advertisements for different clients. I have a love for healthy food, preferably organic and a big interest in the healing powers of nature. I would love to learn more about caring for nature and let nature care for you! I have experience with Workaway. In Corona times I couldn't work, but I didn't want to sit still so I got to work on an organic sheep and donkey farm. It was amazing, caring for the animals and meeting a bunch of lovely people.'
We hope to meet you soon and have a great Workaway time together!Centres d’intérêt

What a fun week we've had together here. Your conversations and all the anecdotes about Indonesia and the Netherlands were quite entertaining for us.
Thank you for being a friend to my son, Aga. Also, the hilarious video about the similarities between Indonesian and Dutch vocabulary that hopefully goes viral!
Thanks as well… read more
