Description
Hello! I've come to WorkAway as a way to explore new places and meet people in a way that is more authentic and allows me to feel like I'm giving back to those I'm staying with. I think of myself as a lifelong student, so any opportunity to learn, especially from a local's perspective, is one I'd be honored to have. I've also always loved working with my hands, and grew up always wanting to help my parents with gardening projects, home renovations, crafts, cooking, and anything else they'd let me try, so I would love to help my hosts out with any projects or work they need assistance with! In my free time, I mostly find joy in rock climbing, hiking, volleyball, birding, and listening to music.

Education:
After high school I received my Bachelor's degree in Biology, with a specialization in Environmental Biology. I studied abroad for 6 weeks in Madagascar, where I had the opportunity to study ecology and primatology in the rainforest and conduct independent research. I have taken various courses in biology, ecology, conservation, chemistry, statistics, physics, and writing.
Job Experience:
My most recent role was as a research technician in a plant biology lab, where I performed many molecular biology techniques for plant genetic research, managed a laboratory of 4-8 people, and took care of sowing, staking, and harvesting plants at our farm. After college I had a 3-month internship as a wildlife rehabilitator, where I was able to rescue and nurture injured & sick wildlife (birds, turtles, squirrels, etc.) while educating the public. During college, I worked with student athletes as a strength & conditioning intern, where I set up and cleaned up the gym for workouts and helped them train. In my high school years, I managed/cleaned pools and did various odd jobs in landscaping, minor house projects, planning garage sales, etc.
Language:
I am fluent in English and Czech, and would say I'm comfortable with reading, writing, and speaking a low-moderate amount of Spanish.
Physical:
I think of myself as a fairly active person, and enjoy participating in rock climbing, volleyball, weight training, swimming, hiking, yard work, and more. I am able to lift heavy weights as needed, and I'm 5'10" (178cm), so I'm usually able to reach most things, if that helps!
Personal:
My other relevant skills and abilities (at varying levels) include organizing, housekeeping/cleaning, cooking/baking, gardening, and using computers, including Microsoft Office. People who work with me would consider me very organized, independent, meticulous, and creative. I love working with animals and plants more than anything, and I get a lot of enjoyment out of helping others :)Âge
