Hello, my name is Juliano I am 22 and live and work in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as a camera assistant on films and tv shows. I really love it! I am also completing a degree in Art History. Since I work freelance, I sometimes have a few months off where I like to travel either by myself or with friends. I have two dogs, Rusty and Bowie, who I miss very much when I am away. I also like photography (I am a very big nerd about analog cameras), to paint and draw, and have recently been working on a ceramic project. I have traveled a lot my whole life, so far I have been to 28 countries and want to see many more. I grew up in New Jersey and moved back and forth between Brazil and the US my whole life (although now I am more or less settled in Brazil). I lived for a year in Italy (in Viterbo) and for a year in the UK (in Farnham). I also enjoy being outside and gardening and doing any sort of somewhat creative work with my hands (over the pandemic my father and I worked on countless little DIY projects together, some with more success than others but it was a lot of fun!) I want to see more of the world while also learning new things and having different experiences.

I grew up speaking Portuguese and English and am fluent in both. I can't formally teach but can definitely help with conversational practice for either. I learned to speak Italian pretty well while living in Italy but have unfortunately forgotten a lot of it, so a major goal of mine is to return to some level of fluency. I would love to practice! I have also taken French, Latin, German, Japanese, Attic Greek and Spanish classes at some point in my life. Japanese and German I am very bad at and barely remember anything, Greek and Latin I can read somethings. French and Spanish I can understand decently and speak some basic phrases but am definitely not comfortable in them. I really love languages though and would be open to learning anything.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Most of my professional experience is in the film industry, I have been working on sets since I was 18 years old. I work as a Camera Assistant, which is a lot more technical than necessarily creative. It involves a lot of responsibility though, and quick problem solving (cameras like to stop working for a number of different reasons) under a lot of pressure (sets sometimes have over 300 people working at once and I can't delay a shoot because of the camera). It also involves an aspect of physical work, since we spend a minimum of 12 hours a day working on our feet and our equipment, which we often need to carry up and down stairs or through unideal terrain, can often reach up to 30kg.
Besides this I do like to work on creative things like photography, painting, and ceramics.
I took an Agroecology class at school where we had to maintain a garden, and got to experience things like collecting olives, making cheese and wine, and other assorted projects. I also have my own little herb garden at home and enjoy taking care of my plants.
I like to think of myself as generally handy, I can fix most things around the house and have done some fun DIY projects like making my own lamps, and building an extra wall in my house.
I also really enjoy cooking and was responsible for most of the family dinners while still living at home. These days I enjoy having friends over for dinner and cooking for them.
