Hi there, we are Emilia & Jonas!

we're a couple from Germany surfing and hiking through South America for the next months. We'll start with some side facts about us ...

I'm Emilia (23) and I'm in the third year of my medicine studies. I'm taking a year off right now which gives me the opportunity to explore the world a bit. For the past 5 months I've worked in a hospital in Tanzania (Mwanza) and had the chance to collect data for my doctor's thesis. This was an enriching experience for me and I learned a lot while living there. Generally, I'm an active person and I love sports - right now I dedicate most of my time to running and yoga. On our trip I'm planning to work on my thesis but this trip is definitely for fun! I would love to go on nice hikes and go (kite) surfing. I'm very looking forward to exploring new cultures and meeting warm-hearted people.

I'm Jonas (26) and I basically quit my full time job in research in order to return to the beauty of surf-traveling. One year ago I already planned a trip to Latin America but due to a knee injury I had to cancel last minute - however, this is where Emilia and I met! :-) Before, I already had the chance to spend half a year studying in Spain (Galicia) and afterwards I was backpacking through Central America for three months. Surfing has taken me to incredible places so far, and I definitely want to keep looking for experiences like the ones I've already been granted.

... we both look curiously towards life and we enjoy being active. We like learning new things and celebrating the variety of possibilities that life offers us. To be fulfilled we both need to keep moving, although at some point, when we feel the need to rest, we follow that inner voice and we seek for calmness and peace.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Jonas:

I'm open for all kinds of jobs. I've already worked in: agriculture (kiwi orchards, vineyards, mowing private persons' lawn), bartender, waiter/service lead in a beach bar in Germany (full-time for 5 months), research institutes (dementia, population health, general practice), washing dishes. During work & travel I gained experience in many different jobs, so I learned to adapt quickly to new tasks and processes. I've got basic knowledge in crafts and building - I might NOT be able to build a house out of it, but I do know how to handle a drill, build up furniture, do gardening and get nails into a wall :-)

Emilia:

During my studies I've worked many months as a waitress and a bartender in a restaurant. I enjoy working with people and I can also get my head into creative things, such as painting and decoration. After finishing school I also lived and worked in a shared living space with people with special needs where our daily tasks included lots of gardening (as we were growing our own vegetables), handy work and cooking. The plants in my room would agree that I have got a green thumb- so I could keep up the gardening skills!

+ we both enjoy spending time with animals - so, if your place includes tasks with animals, we're keen to help.
