Description

I work as a ghost and vampire tour guide in New Orleans! And part time as a seamstress for Mardi Gras costumes. I am seasonal and work internationally in the Summer months and Winter months. This summer I will be working in Greece on a turtle conservation project with rotating groups of teenagers from all over the world but most from America. I am looking for a workaway during the month of August to truly immerse myself and grow. I learned so much about myself and others through my previous two workaways. I am a recent graduate of UC Berkeley, California where I studied food systems, conservation and sustainable clothing design. I solo traveled for almost a year in the Middle East and Europe. I spent some months in Egypt discovering my roots and reconnecting with family. Adventure, travel, and the outdoors bring me happiness. I love creative pursuits such as music, writing, sewing, etc. I am an easy going traveler and love settling into a new place and really getting to know the culture.

I am very self reliant and self sufficient and will always try my best to find ways to be helpful and add to the community that has welcomed me. I have loved workaway as a way to really immerse in a culture and a lifestyle. I travel through work as a program leader and tour guide for a teen travel organization called Rustic Pathways. I have spent most months of the past few years in Thailand and Hawaii. I am currently working as a tour guide in New Orleans. I always welcome folks to come and stay so I can show them my favorite city. I teach sewing and music classes to children and love working with kids as well as adults. You can absolutely put me to work in the garden or kitchen as I have experience growing and love cooking for big groups. My previous Workaway hosts loved my attention to detail and obsession with cleaning and organizing. I previously helped a host deep clean and organize a shed over the span of weeks. Mostly I would say my warmth and happy go lucky personality are my best traits. I am innately curious and will enjoy learning about you, your culture, and your way of life as well as exploring on my own and keeping myself entertained. My expertise include creative skills such as guitar, painting, sewing, crochet, writing, etc. I have wide knowledge of environmental studies including food systems, gardening, sustainability, etc. My work experiences include childcare and program leadership. I have worked for years as a camp counselor and run the arts program and outdoor pursuits program. I have experience leading trips abroad and backpacking solo, with friends and family.
