Description

We are an adventurous couple looking for opportunities to learn everything and anything about operating a small hotels and boutique hotels. Our ideal workaway opportunity would offer us a little mentorship and a lot of experience doing anything and everything required to own and operate a small hotel (even better if that hotel is in Costa Rica). We also founded a relief management company providing owner operators with temporary management services for their small hotels in Costa Rica. We love to volunteer in-between clients to learn more about hospitality and Costa Rica.

David is a Costa Rican citizen and I am a Costa Rican resident through marriage. We met in 2012 in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica and since have been living and working in the USA.

We are travel fanatics and LOVE hearing about travel, going to new places and learning about different cultures. In the time that we've been married, we have traveled to over 35 countries together.

We love to be outside!! Hiking is our favorite activity and any activity at the beach comes in a close second! We love pets! David is a pet whisperer, and we love playful pets or dogs that enjoy walks or beach.

We are honest, ambitious, responsible, hard working, fun, ethical, organized and adventurous!!

We are not flakes! If we say we are coming, then we will be there with a smile!! We expect our hosts to reciprocate.

We enjoy working together and make a great team! Plus, we can easily fit ourselves into the space you would normally give to a single volunteer!

We have many talents and skills that make us valuable volunteers!!

We also have passion to learn new skills to help us reach our lifetime goals.

We both really enjoy working with tourists and making sure their time spent on vacation is fun, safe and unforgettable!!

We have extensive experience in travel and tourism, restaurant and bar management, hotel reception, customer service, property maintenance, and sales!

Erica has a degree in Business Management and a Masters degree in Tourism Administration, with specific focus on Ecotourism, Non-profit development and community development.

David studied Teaching English at U Latina and has a technical degree in air conditioning (HVAC). He is strong and can fix just about anything.

We embrace fitness and eating healthy. We want to learn more about sustainable food production and gardening. We also want to learn about building tiny homes from sustainable materials and we want to get outside, use our hands, and get dirty!

WE ARE RESPONSIBLE!!! We are also open-minded and always love a good time!

As a team we encompass just about any skill necessary to get the job done!

Our most valuable skills are that we FOLLOW DIRECTIONS, BE A TEAM PLAYER, learn fast, work hard (with a smile), and are flexible to meet your needs!!

David has the gift of muscle and can work harder and longer than most.He pays great attention to detail, especially when cleaning, gardening, painting or building. He is very patient and gets the job done! He is a jack-of-all-trades and can accomplish anything if given instructions. In Costa Rica, David has been a server in a busy restaurant and a bartender at a busy night club. He will chat up customers, when time permits, or keeps it strictly business to improve your bottom line with his quick service and winning smile! In The United States David has focused on gardening, yard work, pet care, general maintenance, and lots of commissioned sales! He has impressive fluency in both English and Spanish!!

Erica loves logistics and keeping everything organized. She enjoys shopping, cooking and basic homemaking activities. In Costa Rica, Erica has worked in restaurants, bars and hotels. She has spent many hours designing flyers and even more hours passing those fliers out to tourists to fill hotel beds, bars, restaurants, and parties. She is still learning Spanish, but speaks well enough to hold a job. Erica is also great with computers and excels in writing, advertising, and small-scale marketing, and social media. In the United States Erica has had several commissioned sales jobs. Customer service is her specialty! She has also worked for Norwegian Cruise line as a children's entertainer and for Hyatt as a front desk receptionist at a 4 star hotel. She has also been a substitute teacher and lifeguard for several years.

There really isn't much that we wont do! We want your experience hosting us to be as pleasant as ours. We understand what it means to be on a team. Not only do we make a great team together, but we will be a valuable part of your team too!!
