Description

I am 32 years old and from Manchester, England. In November this year I will be returning to Canada on a 12 month working holiday visa. Between 2024 and 2025 I spent 16 months in Canada on a previous working holiday. I had the opportunity to travel in Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and BC, where I completed many wonderful workaways along the way. The experiences I had at these workaways and the people I met there made these some of the best times I had in during my travels in Canada.

I am a friendly, versatile and hardworking individual who loves the outdoors, literature, visiting new places and learning about different ways of life. I came to Canada in hope that I can embrace all of these things. I have experience in many industries in the UK including construction labouring, retail, hospitality, factory work, distribution as well as driving-based roles. I have held a full UK driving license for 14 years. I am a fast learner and a problem-solver, focused and well-organised. I enjoy physical work and working outside, and am no stranger to working in all types of weather. I am always willing and eager to learn new skills, and always committed to the task at hand.

During my previous time in Canada I worked mainly in housekeeping roles, in both paid and unpaid roles, but I also had spent time in gardening, farming, some carptentry, decorating and many other odd jobs.

I do not have much of a plan for the coming year so my availability it extremely flexible. Wherever you are, if the think that I would be suited to a role you're offering then please send over a message!

This was my 4th Workaway in Canada and by far one of the best experiences I've had. I stayed on Ile d'Orleans with Francois and his motley crew and for about 7 weeks from early september to late october doing mainly housekeeping alongside some gardening, DIY and a little bike maintenance.

This is a magical place. I arrived in April when the snow was still knee deep and stayed until July when the days are long and clear and hot. If I wrote about everything I loved about this place I'd be writing for the rest of my life, so I'll keep it general.

This was my first experience with workaway and before I arrived I really didn't know … read more what to expect, but as soon as you get there you are quite literally welcomed with open arms, and made to feel right at home.

I lived in a big comfortable house with other woofers where you have all the food you can eat and everything you might need is taken care of. It wasn't until I got to my next workaway that I realised just how well looked after you are and just how great it is here. The house is always full of other travellers from all over the world and you get the chance to meet and make friends with so many kinds of people. It's the perfect place to try to improve your French, too!

All the staff here are great, and are made up a mixture locals and other travellers. It's a big friendly, sociable and diverse team and there is always fun to be had. Group outings and excursions are regularly organised and can be anything from bowling, bbq's on the beach, festivals, ziplining - it could be anything but it's always something fun. There is never a dull moment!

The actual work is about 75% housekeeping in the various types of cabins they have but you do other stuff too like vacuuming hottubs, gardening, cleaning out animal shelters, shovelling snow or even the dreaded sacs de bois!

I planned to stay here for 6 weeks but ended up staying 3 months, and when that time was up I still didn't want to leave! I had such a great time, and made so many great friends and memories that superlatives literally fail me when it comes to putting into words just how much I loved it here. Living and working in such close proximity with the others gives this place a huge sense of community and camaraderie that is a real nice thing to be a part of. And especially the others with whom I shared the house became like a pseudo-family for me.

It's a great place, full of fun and friendly people in one of the most beautiful areas in eastern Canada, and I had some of the best times I've ever had here! The only bad thing about this place is how sad you'll be when it's eventually time to leave. It was such a fun and enriching experience for me here, full of good times and happiness, that I feel like I left with so much more than when I arrived. However I leave something behind me too, because I think that a small piece of my heart will remain in Charlevoix forever!

Thank you to everyone who make it possible for this wonderful place to exist, especially to my first 'woof family' and to Sarah, Lars, Peter and Michel who made sure I felt welcomed when I first arrived!

I came here last minute and within two days of messaging I was being picked up from the local bus stop. Her and Ken are two extremely generous and down-to-earth people.
