Description

My name is Matthew. Traveling chef, carpenter, bicycle and motorcycle enthusiast, and hiker. My education includes being a Culinary Institute of America graduate that subsequently focused on nutrition and dietary management. I also spent several semesters studying html and web development in addition to closing out my transfer degree and certifications in nutrition. After a sudden career change I gained several years experience in construction studying under a master carpenter and working with a top builder in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have since restored many homes privately and then returned to the kitchen post 2020.

I frequently travel and enjoy nothing more than contributing to volunteer projects and immersing myself in the local culture. I attempt to walk one of the Camino routes every year and find myself working seasonally to maximize my time traveling.

I've participated in what seems like countless workaway experiences throughout the years and consider my previous hosts among the best of my friends, with some even being adopted as family.

Experienced tradesman. I took an apprenticeship right out of high school with a restoration facility that specialized in European sports cars which led me to having a great deal of experience in Automotive Repair/Maintenance
Well versed in all aspects of restaurant operation including service, line, and internet marketing. Twenty years of experience in restaurants topped off with a degree from The Culinary Institute of America.
I also worked as a carpenter's apprentice for a little over two years, and renovated houses with a private investor for another three, so I can navigate a jobsite and have understudied multiple tradesmen throughout the years. Detail oriented and hold myself to a very high standard.
