Description

I’m Clara (25) and have been on workaway for quite a few years. I really enjoyed all my past experiences and all the people I've met through this platform. Happy to gain even more and connect with you!

Growing up in the country side of northern Germany I have had to help my family with house and garden work all my life. For some people living in a rural area might seem boring, for my part I learned to enjoy creating, building and maintaining stuff as well as having my own animals to take care of. This also includes being part of a small community where one helps another.

Ever since I finished high school, I did

- Volunteer in the U.S. by supporting young adults with special needs
- Studied and graduated as a teacher for English and Geography at the baltic sea.
- Spent a semester at the University of Hanoi, Vietnam and did internships teaching English at two different schools.

Workaway and other things I've done:

-My first Workaway took me to Swedish Lapland for woodwork, maintenance and running an Airbnb in the Arctic Circle.
- In Indonesia I've been at a durian farm and a permaculture garden, where I got hands-on experience in sustainable farming.
- In the Philippines I helped at a restaurant, preparing ingredients, serving customers and different chores that needed to be done.
- In Germany I also worked in a warehouse, did bartending and been service staff at different local festivals.
- Traveling through all of Australia I did stuff like pruning olive trees, garden work, bush care up in Darwin, mulching and general house maintenance.

I know my way around most tools, but always eager to learn more.
I'd love to gain more experience and skills - and along the way meet more people from all different backgrounds and cultures.
Always happy to learn something new and help wherever needed!

¡Hola, me llamo Imke (26)!

I am so excited to get to know maybe you and help you with your projects and on the way learn more about México and improve my spanish!

Clara and I grew up in the same village and have known eachother since kindergarden and always been in the same schools. So we get along really well as a team!

I myself grew up on an organic blueberry farm where since being a child I had to help out with the animals, the garden, construction and maintenance, as well as selling the blueberries. So I am used to get my hands dirty and love working with animals! I have also had dogs and cats (and many other animals) my whole life and miss mine that grew old and sadly already passed away, so would love to pet sit!

I love to surround myself with people from various walks of life and cultures and am always curious to learn and listen, as well as share stories from my life so far. I eat everything and am excited try any food, as well as cook something German for you (though Mexican food probably tastes better haha).

In my free time I enjoy doing a variety of sports (swimming, yoga, dance, running), being creative (mainly collages and writing) and going to cultural events.

Study and Work experiences I have:
- Studied North American Studies in Berlin focusing on history (so would love to deepen my knowledge on this part of North America!)
- multiple years in working at always changing events in catering, promoting and planning, so very good at adapting to new people and environments
- art and performance experience in various areas that I would love to deepen (collage, drag, sculpture, writing, improv , painting, fashion)

Workaway and volunteering I’ve done:
- volunteered for a year in New Orleans, US, leading groups of different ages and backgrounds to do charitable house renovations, working in a food bank and a community garden, and also cooking for these groups
- worked in a social restaurant minimizing food waste
- volunteering in a hostel for a month
- working on an organic vineyard in South Germany

I am eager to learn new things, help you out with what’s most needed right now, and meet lovely people along the way!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

We have animals ourselves like chickens, horses, cats and dogs so I know a bit about farm work.
I have a newborn and 5 year old nephew as well as a 8 year old niece, which I babysit once in a while.

I really enjoy photography and if I've got time editing/cutting photos/videos as well as creating stuff for social media, would be happy to help in any kind of way.

In my leasure time I love to do any kind of outdoor sport like hiking, biking, swimming, ...
I also really like to photograph and any kind of sidequest.

I've been living together with flatmates for more than 5 years, so I am used to sharing and taking care of a place together as well as communicating in a way that everyone feels that their needs are seen. I enjoy cooking and just spending time together very much!
