Liana is living full time in Bergen, Norway & Marnie part time. While together at home & the weather is nice we enjoy hiking, foraging, swimming in the fjord & having potluck dinners with friends. 😊

Hey!

Both of us are originally from the Arizona desert & last lived together full time in the heart of Los Angeles. Liana left a career in film post production to chase down a master’s degree in philosophy at the University of Bergen & still resides there on the scenic west coast of Norway. Their true passion lies in music, storytelling, documentary film making, & learning new tricks! 😄

I’m Marnie, the one with the biggest travel bug & the one of us running this account! ^_^ I’m an artist that daylights in customer & food service but have worn many hats in terms of jobs. Having worked for a media company, merchandised for retailers, worked in art department as a set decorator for commercials, & owned/operated a small ceramic business while working as a studio tech, I have many interests & like to try it all! 😆 I also enjoy learning about the powers of plant medicine, vegetarian experimental cooking, getting my hands dirty, & what I would call intuitive traveling.

We both share a love of the obscure, culture, dogs & lore; as well as a thirst for knowledge, travel, sustainability, & good company. We are hoping to see more of the world, meet new people, create positive impact, & welcome all opportunities for growth!

At this current moment I (Marnie) will be traveling solo for 3 months while Liana finishes up their degree.

As I have gotten older I have become more & more interested in languages.. I learned a good amount of Spanish growing up in the southwestern US, & have been trying to teach myself French for a number of years. I am still not quite fluent in either, but am enthusiastic about practicing them when I can. I have also taken an interest in Norwegian, Italian, and a little Korean.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

The last time I signed us up for workaway was in the summer of 2020.. When the world shut down we both longed to be in a place where we could grow our own food & live quietly away from the noise of the big city..
When I signed up for workaway I was quickly grounded into the reality that we weren’t going anywhere for a while. At that time, Liana & I decided to start getting boxes of vegetables from a local farm & began making as many things from scratch that we could think of. With the help of the internet, & a good dose of intuition, I began making butters, buttermilk, mayonnaise, jams, marmalades, breads, cakes & even a few tinctures. The boxes of vegetables inspired me to make all kinds of new dishes, soups & one of our favorites, dutch pancakes! We found some parks where I could practice wild crafting & found things like nettles & cleavers, & for the first time in a long time, my body & my soul felt so nourished & I was awakened to a new & exciting kind of life.
Liana, decided to leave the long hours of post production for something more fulfilling & went on to Norway. I dreamt of traveling the world through a site like workaway, or woof, but unfortunately I found myself back in my hometown, taking care of my mother when she was unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer.
I have spent the last few years back in food service & caring for my mother in my off hours.. Now that she has recovered, thank goodness, I am reviving my dreams of learning how to live more naturally, honing the skills I’ve taught myself, & hoping to build upon that knowledge from someone with more expertise!
In caring for my mother I learned so much. I have an adaptive spirit & a desire to go where I can be of service again, but this time hoping to dig my hands into the earth & breathe some fresh air!

I went to university to be an artist, so I have some painting, drawing, sculpting, & ceramic skills & like to be creative when & where I can. I also know a little of sewing, & learned a little of building & using power tools, but would love to learn more.
I love learning about plants & holistic medicines & am passionate about clean cosmetics & recently got certified in reiki.
I like to hike, do yoga, & swim. I enjoy finding new ways to incorporate movement into my life so I recently took up aerial yoga & enjoy it immensely!
I really enjoy trying new things & am hoping to learn how to fish & go kayaking in the near future, but am mostly just looking for a bit of adventure & opportunities to get outside my comfort zone. ☺️
