Description

Hello! We are Isabella and Soph. Two friends (both 23 years old) from Florida who are living in Madrid and working as English teaching assistants at public, primary schools. We have a passion for cultural exchange, community, sustainability, and art. We are curious and creative and our goal is to discover more of Spain, meet people, and learn new things.

We both have experience working in different industries including retail, service, child care, education, and mental health. Isabella has experience WWOOFing and working on a farm, working with children with special needs, tutoring English and au pairing. In her free time she loves to cook and go for long walks. Her current obsession is making bread and kombucha. She also has a certificate to teach English as a foreign language (TEFL) and her BS in psychology. Soph has experience in tutoring English, au pairing, and working as a barista and teacher. In her free time she is most often rock climbing, working on a variety of crafts (sewing, painting, stamp making, etc.) and looking for the next travel destination (she has been to 26 countries!). She loves to be active and is often working on different projects or involved with different groups. She also has her TEFL certificate and her degree in digital media (web design).

We are open to many types of work including indoor and outdoor renovation projects, garden or farm work, cooking, and any daily tasks that could be helpful to our houses. What we may lack in experience we make up for in enthusiasm and a willingness to learn on the job and have a good attitude.

We are lively, respectful, and curious people who enjoy nature, interesting conversations, and honest communication that is essential to creating an enjoyable experience for everyone. We are used to adapting to new environments and living abroad and extensive traveling has made us flexible, independent and resourceful. We would be happy to help, share stories and skills, and be part of your daily life for a while!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Isabella: I have my degree in psychology, minor in art history and TEFL certificate. I have experience WWOOFing on a Vermont homestead and volunteering regularly at community garden in Orlando, Florida. On the farm, I practiced pruning and trellising tomatoes and trees, stringing beans and peas, tending chickens, harvesting and portioning crops such as leafy greens, peas, herbs, tomatoes, peppers, etc. Experience watering crops with rain barrel , tilling soil, and have built and worked with PVC greenhouses. I have worked with children in different environments such as an English teaching assistant, general tutor, counselor at a Residential Treatment Center, and live in nanny.


Soph: I have my degree in digital media and TEFL and Photoshop certificates. I have experience au pairing. I worked in Almunecar, Spain last summer caring for and teaching English to two young girls ages 9 and 10. I am fluent in both English and Spanish and have a beginner level of French. I have experience with hiking and bouldering and camping. I have technology skills including video and photo editing and graphic design skills.
