Hey! I'm Athéna, from Belgium and 26 years old. I just started my trip through Central America :) What really motivates me while travelling is connecting with people, experiencing and learning about different cultures. I appreciate being in nature and having good conversations, or just a good book with a hot cup of tea.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
Since September 2024 I’ve been travelling through Asia and returned home overland by train. Before that, I worked for four years in customer service for a Belgian health insurance fund (speaking Dutch, French and English), where I helped all kinds of people with their reimbursments and administration.
I started volunteering at age 17 at two different nature conservation associations in my hometown, where I helped with habitat management such as planting trees, working together with vulnerable groups and pitched in whenever there was an educational kids’ camp. I loved seeing how nature had a calming effect on every individual.
At the beginning of 2024 I helped several times a week at the social grocery store – an initiative where people struggling financially can find quality food and basic products at a low price. I helped unpacking and distributing the products but mostly I got a lot of fulfilment and happiness from helping people from different backgrounds.
During my last trip I learned the value of slow-travelling, connecting with other travellers and the local population, learning the language, about the food and history etc. For this reason I am very interested in gaining and sharing experiences through volunteering!
