Les activités qui m'intéressent :

I have extensive experience in working with animals and specifically animals in rescue centres. This is where my true passion lives and so is what I'm most interested in for Workaway experiences.

Description

I grew up on a small organic farm in the Peak District in England. I have been surrounded by animals and nature my entire life and have a special love and appreciation for them. Not only have I cared for the animals on the farm, but I also have experience in animal rescue centers in the UK and have volunteered for an animal shelter in Greece and also in India. When I was younger, I have worked in a horse livery yard and a cat cafe.
I have also completed a BSc in Animal Behaviour at Manchester Metropolitan University, where I graduated with a First Class award in 2020. My dissertation was on the behaviour and physical characteristics of dogs in rescue centres and how this affected their rehoming.
I've now completed 2 large trips where I've travelled round the Balkan regions, stopping for 2 months to volunteer in a rescue centre in Greece, and another trip around South East Asia where I volunteered for a month in a shelter and rehabilitation centre in India.
I am extremely passionate about my beliefs and a very hard worker, I am committed to helping the animals in this world and that is the calling that I want to fulfil. I am a vegan and want to work within the animal rescue and welfare sector, and one day I want to own and run my own animal rescue center! Therefore this experience will not only be me helping a host and their animals, but I also want to learn about running a rescue center myself.
I truly believe that every animal on this earth is special and deserves love, care, and respect! This is why I want to commit my life to help them, as unfortunately there is so much animal neglect in this world. I want to make as much of a difference as I can, and that is why I am joining workaway as I want to help like-minded people with their own projects and passions.
As well as animals and nature, I also love meeting new people, especially from different countries and backgrounds! The farm I grew up on was part of WWOOF, and so I have met and worked with hundreds of different people, and from a very young age, I was exposed to different cultures. This has really helped shape who I am today, I will accept and love anybody - no matter who they are.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have extensive knowledge in animal care, welfare and behaviour, both of farm and domestic animals. I've worked with animals since the day I could walk and talk! This experience ranges from herding cattle, helping with lambing, riding horses, training rescue dogs, milking goats, to raising orphaned chicks. The work I have done with animals also includes the upkeep of the buildings and pens, both cleaning them and also structural work. I know how to muck out stables and how to clean down dog pens. I've also helped in the building and repairing of pens and coops. I have experience in general maintenance of the grounds and yards such as clearing and weeding, many days have been spent bent over and yanking out dock leaves and nettles!
I have also worked as a babysitter, housekeeper, and gardener; and have worked many years in the hospitality industry and so have good people skills; both in regards to colleagues and customers. I know how to cook and how to keep living areas clean and tidy.

I really enjoy my time with other people and would love to make some very fun memories, I'd love to try things that I have never done before! I do also value my own time and space; cuddling up with a book and a warm drink and watching the sunset is one of my favourite things to do!
My hobbies include reading, going on walks or adventures, and cooking delicious meals. I enjoy playing card games and getting to know new people!
