Hello, this is AJ and Kenna! We are a young American couple from California and New Mexico. We are on a journey to learn more about the world and ourselves by meeting and working with you! Our story started in Americorps, which is a federal government program that connects young adults with nonprofits throughout the US. We connected over a shared passion for helping others, learning from our mistakes, and trying new things!

AJ: I was born and raised in Southern California where I graduated from university and worked for a year and a half as an internal auditor at a mortgage bank. This year (2025) I left my corporate job to experience nonprofit and humanitarian work and learn more about different cultures/ways of living. I live life full throttle: hiking, running, lifting, dancing, and kayaking. I am never afraid of a physically demanding day and love to eat/cook a home-cooked meal.

I chose Workaway not just for travel, but for a meaningful connection with hosts and my work. I want to contribute to projects that align with restoring the Earth and its inhabitants (human & non-human) and leave things better than how I found it. I'm excited to offer my hard work, positivity, and reliability. And in return, I hope to grow through new perspectives, shared meals, and friends.

Kenna: I am a 19-year-old adventurous young woman from New Mexico with a big heart, an open mind, and a love for new experiences. I have learned so much about myself, others, and this planet through service.

I completed one semester of college before realizing I wanted to explore as many options and life paths as I could. I am taking time to travel, learn from different cultures, and give back through meaningful volunteer work. I’m friendly, respectful, and eager to help in any way I can—whether that’s working in a garden, helping with kids, assisting with household tasks, or supporting small businesses.

I love being active and outdoors, but I’m also happy working behind the scenes. I’m a quick learner, open to feedback, and genuinely enjoy connecting with people from all walks of life. My goal through Workaway is to grow personally, gain new skills, and contribute positively to the communities that welcome me.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

AJ: I have been lifting weights, playing sports, and running since I was a young teenager. The decade of physical training has given me strength and stamina that I can use to help your cause.

I have great teamwork, technology, and problem-solving skills from years of working in a corporate setting and working with other nonprofits. I have volunteered to take on multiple leadership positions and enjoy being involved. I have experience in construction, gardening, composting, and taking care of animals.

I have also lived in communal living quarters while in AmeriCorps and All Hands and Hearts so I am accustomed to it. I am comfortable working on my own or with others and I am open to feedback to perform better and more efficiently.


Kenna: I am very enthusiastic and passionate with everything I do. I was raised to be empathetic and patient, creating an open and dedicated mind guided by a big heart. I am very physically capable and up to any task!

I am very adaptable and love finding creative solutions to any challenge that may arise. I have a strong work ethic and a problem-solving mindset from my years of leadership in school programs. I also developed great teamwork and time management skills through my time serving in AmeriCorps. My time there also deepened my understanding of community needs and strengthened my skills in service-based work.

AJ: I am a very active person. I like to be outside doing things to connect with nature. I love hiking and water activities. I also enjoy board games like Catan and card games like poker. I grew up in a household that loved to cook so I'm always open to learning more about cooking.

Kenna: One of my passions is music! I have been singing and dancing my whole life and love exchanging and sharing these gifts with the world. I also love gaining new hobbies and I am very excited to learn about new things.
