  • Description

    Hello Reader !

It's Alicia here, a Northern-Irish girl in my mid-twenties who adores solo-travelling, every kind of food, and most of all expanding my knowledge of languages and cultures. I pride myself in living an incredibly people-centered life, and want to continue doing that whilst I travel! I have just completed my Bachelors degree in Modern Languages (French and German) and additionally hold two Level 4 qualifications in Mentoring in the Context of Language learning. If you're looking for a friend, colleague or worker that is high-energy, reliable and incredibly caring about many causes - I would love to be in contact with you!

I am currently working at a Bike cafe called The Bike Lock in Cardiff. It is the most amazing place, a social enterprise Café where we put the community first and serve local and ethical produce. We aim to reduce bike theft through providing a secure storage facility for cyclists. I LOVE cycling! I strongly believe that if you cycle, you are a cyclist. Simple!

I'm looking for a Workaway experience which either entails working with children, developing someone's language skills, or spending time on a farm-stay abroad. I have extensive farm experience - between working on my home farm in Ireland, to also working on an organic dairy farm in Bamberg, Germany, in 2020, making cheese and milking cows. I additionally spent over 2 weeks last year working on a small farm in Lower Saxony in Germany where I cared for chickens, Icelandic horses, dogs and sheep. I would now love to experience farm life outside of Germany!

**It is important for me to note that I do not drink alcohol! This is a very big part of my life and I am incredibly proud of myself to have given up drinking for just over a year! I still love non-alcoholic beer, going to bars and having a drink with friends. . My idea of having a good time is not drinking alcohol but forming amazing connections with whoever I am spending time with!

I cant wait to meet you!

    Lots of love,
    Alicia xx

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have exceptional communication abilities, built over 8 years in customer facing roles internationally. Not only can I communicate fluently in English, but have the advantage of speaking German fluently and Beginner/intermediate French.

Additionally, I have over 2 years experience in teaching and mentoring. I have worked within the private education sector as a German language assistant whilst also hosting workshops in schools around Wales to encourage children to pursue a language for GCSE. The amount of children studying languages in the UK is decreasing and I feel very passionately about changing this !
