Hello!

I’m Alexia, a 24-year-old from Belgium :) I just finished my first year of a master’s in Nutrition and Food Systems, and I want to take advantage of my summer break to travel, meet people, and discover more of the world around me!

I have always loved learning about different cultures and ways of life, and I've done so through traveling. After finishing my bachelor’s degree, I took a gap year and solo backpacked through India, did various Workaways in Italy, the UK, the Netherlands, and more. What I love most about Workaway opportunities is the connection with people: learning from them, creating meaningful relationships, and living in symbiosis, each of us giving what we can to others and sharing this little bit of life we have together :)

I love anything related to food and nutrition, growing your own food, moving your body (I played on the youth national volleyball team and am also a certified yoga teacher), being in nature, talking about philosophy and spirituality, and much more. My interests vary a lot because almost everything interests me. I am always looking to learn something new and connect with people.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

While I am very happy to do anything that is asked of me, I feel most at home in the kitchen and in nature! I have a passion for cooking (mostly vegetarian) and love making everything from scratch.

My very first Workaway was as a cook for a large family. I grew up in the Belgian countryside with my farmer grandparents, so I am also used to working in the garden and am not afraid to get dirty ;)

I also feel at ease with kids, as some of my previous Workaways included babysitting. I’m happy to help around the house too, whether it's cooking, cleaning, ironing, or anything else that needs doing. I speak French and English fluently, can have a basic conversation in Dutch, and am currently learning Italian.

In general, I am a motivated and organised person. I love being around people, but I also sometimes need my own time and always respect other people's need for space. I have travelled extensively and completed many Workaways, all of which have been positive experiences!
