Description

I'm 30 year young guy who is trying to learn as much as I can about farming vegetables, taking care of livestock, sustainability, construction, plumbing, electric, aquaponics, hydroponics and rural living in general. My family owns a 150 acre farm in Southern West Virginia on the border of West Virginia & Virginia. I am trying to homestead that land to be self sustaining. The land has a old farm house and 3 natural water springs. I would like to set up connections with other farmers that I can have lifelong relationships with for a continual education!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I am a yoga instructor and have a bachelors degree in Multidisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Public Relations, Communications & Religion. I have been doing work trades on farms and homesteads since I graduated from college in 2012. I worked on a vineyard in West Virginia, a mediation and ecological center in Hawaii, an urban co-op in Houston, Texas and 6 or more farms and homesteads in Homer, Alaska. I used workaway for the first time in Spain October 2016 to December 2016 at a hostel in Murcia, housesitting a farm in Elche, and being an au pair in Sant Joan, Alicante. I also used workaway to teach yoga in Riskikesh, India at a hostel for free stay on trade and to teach yoga at a hostel in Lonely Beach, Koh Chang Thailand. I also traded at BB Divers through work away for free open water certification in Thailand. I have waited tables all along since 2006. I have worked with children and elderly teaching yoga and caretaking. I have even been a personal assistant twice to working professionals. I have worked constructions jobs off and on since high school as my dad owns a property management company with properties I have helped maintain. I love animals and have taken care of sled dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, bees, and goats. I feel I have an eye for aesthetics and could help out with art projects if needed and I am quite technology-savvy too! I plan to travel for many years to come and love to learn so lets chat and make this happen!

  I prefer to eat vegan. I do not eat meat unless it is a local delicacy I haven't tried before. I will eat fish if it is local or sustainable. I will eat eggs if I must to survive but try my best to avoid dairy.
