  • Description

Hello! We are both recent college graduates from the Seattle area in the United States. We grew up dancing together and have stayed close friends ever since. Adelle studied Biology and Anthropology and Marin studied Environmental Studies and Politics. We’re both passionate about sustainability, food and agriculture, and building community. We love cooking and baking, and are looking forward to sharing our food and trying new things. We’re very excited to grow our confidence in travel and get to know people from so many different cultures on our travels across Europe this spring. We both know some Spanish and Marin knows some French as well.

Adelle - I have worked in the field of outdoor education through various summer camp programs for over 5 years. My passion for restoration and conservation comes from a life changing study abroad experience in Costa Rica, where I backpacked for six weeks through some of the most biodiverse tropical rainforests on the planet. I realized the impact of local communities and hands-on field work while participating in discussions with locals about development and working on mangrove restoration projects. For the last four months of 2025 I worked for an environmental nonprofit that focused on restoring native habitats through various conservation efforts such as manual removal of invasives, mulching, planting, and stream habitat restoration. I love to cook for groups of people and share recipes, stories, and skills. Most recently, I have gotten into the world of crochet. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, listening to music, and laughing. I am excited to participate in my first Workaway experience, and learning about how it can inform a more thorough travel experience. Hopefully I will gain life changing experiences, learn new cooking techniques and flavors, and become more confident in travel.

Marin - In college, I had a focus on sustainable agriculture and food systems. I learned about soil science, permaculture, and regenerative agriculture. I’m looking forward to seeing how different agricultural practices and traditions look across Europe. I am also looking into a career in urban planning and community engagement. As we travel, I am hoping to learn a lot about different public transportation systems, housing, and the design of public spaces. Last year, I traveled for three weeks in the UK, Italy, and France. Even in that short time, my idea of how easy it can be to get around without a car totally changed. I can’t wait to be somewhere new and experience a different pace of life.

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

We both have experience teaching dance classes and leading environmental education for many age groups. We are good at planning meals, shopping, and cooking for groups of meal planning and cooking for big and small groups. We both took a few years of Spanish classes but haven’t continued to practice. We’re excited to get back into it! Marin also took a few years of French. We are both safe drivers and Adelle has experience driving trucks.

Adelle: Adelle has experience cooking for large groups of people, and making baked goods. She is good at planning meals and grocery shopping. Her work experience includes teaching young students about nature, ecology, and biology. She has field experience in tropical rainforest restoration, water quality, and soil quality testing, as well as field experience in restoration of several regions in Washington State. She is an experienced driver, and has taught dance classes to many age groups. She speaks English fluently, and has some experience learning Spanish but has not continued learning since high school. Her college education was a four year undergraduate degree in Biology and Anthropology where she enjoyed challenging lab courses and learning about how the world around her works. She has spent 7 weeks studying and backpacking in Costa Rica, and has traveled to Australia.

Marin: I have experience gardening from planning to seeding to harvest. I grew up around horses and I love animals. I have my own rescue dog at home (she won’t be traveling with me) and love dog training. I have some experience helping my family with small projects around the home like painting, building fences, and carpentry. I am very detail oriented and good at cleaning houses as well as bigger deep cleaning projects.

  • Autres infos...

Adelle: hobbies are crafting and journaling. I like to keep a junk journal where I keep receipts, tags, pieces of paper and I keep it in a notebook so I can remember the daily life part of my life. I enjoy crocheting, and felt projects. I know one card game and it is my favorite card game, but I would love to learn more. Listening to music is how I stay connected with my friends and family, and to myself. Reading is a hobby that I am getting more and more interested in. I love spending time in markets and exploring local cities. Food is a major part of my identity, and branching out is something I am excited to do.

Marin: I love to go birdwatching, hiking, and exploring in nature. I’m always excited to learn about local history and culture and see historic sites. I love food in general, but especially trying out yummy desserts! I like to cook and enjoy building community with people over food. Music has always been a big part of my life and I love seeing music that is traditional to different places
