Hi ! :))

My name is Zoya or if it is easier, Zoë (I go by both) . I am 21 years old ( 22 years old very soon) and a Fine Arts graduate. I am Slovak and French Canadian (Québec) and I am citizen/have permanent residency for both Slovakia and Canada luckily.

I am currently attending the University of British Colombia (UBC) in Vancouver , Canada where I am studying Art History!

I would love to be an Art Curator later on in life. I am an artist and I love art,especially sculpture and black&white photography. I am really into creating my own clothes from recycled materials recently though as well as performative sculpture. I am starting to get back into oil painting and watercolour.
Would love to do mural work at some point in my life and I also love graffiti. I am quite passionate when it comes to talk about monumental Soviet Mosaics from Moscow, check it out it's incredible !

In my free time, besides creating art, I love to go hiking, skiing, swimming, trail running,canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing ….. you name it! I am always looking for a next adventure. I love to travel and learn about different cultures. Always looking to enhance my knowledge and learn new things ! I also love cooking! I am vegan since birth. I started my own vegan organic sustainable business when I was 16 years old. I would sell primarily ready-to-go meals, all made with love of course ;) What else? I would say that I am a hard worker that is able to work both by myself and in groups of people. I am reliable and will always have a smile on my face! I am fluent in French, English, Spanish and Slovak. I am also learning Italian and Swedish. I know some basic German too. Would love to learn Russian. Always willing to learn new languages and discover rich artitectural places.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
I volunteered at a dog/cat shelter in Romania. I cleaned (removed garbage) from Norway’s coast with the Norwegian environmental group « In the Same Boat) . I did a humanitarian trip to India where I helped take care of people in need (medical/general care and supplies etc).I worked at an Art Center/Substainable living in Northen Italy. I worked as a gardener during the springtime to late summer. I have experience serving customers; cafés/restaurants, candy store, eco & in bulk stores, library etc. I have experience with hand tools as I have to use them in the wood and metal shops of my school. I have experience in selling products as I started my own vegan organic sustainable business when I was 16 years old. Before then, I sold for three winters in a row jewelry and handcrafted items at my local Christmas fair.

Love all animals and taking care of them! I had 4 cats (2 have passed away) and 1 dog (recently deceased, may Gracie rip) at home, all rescues :)

This has been one of my favourite workaways I have done so far! The Yukon in general is so beautiful and wild and I can't even explain what it felt like seeing two grizzly bears just on my drive in from the airport! Carcross is a very small but cute town with an amazing view of mountains and lake Bennett. There is a lot of hiking to do around the… read more town so if you are an outdoorsy person who enjoys the peace and quiet of nature like me, this place is definitely for you ! I do recommand having a car here though as the walk in to work is around 45 min on a stady pace (I quite enjoyed the walk though for the views and wildlife) and also if you want to visit further places like dawson city, haines, Skagway , atlin etc etc. That being said, I still managed to go see incredible places here by borrowing my cooworkers car's or even by planning road trips with them on their days off. The Bistro is a really cute and charming place and it can get quite busy during June and on because of all the cruise ships, tour buses etc so I always had something to do. I worked in the front of house from early may (opening) to mid-august and honestly is was so so great to meet so many tourists from all over the world and the locals were all so nice and willing to get to know you. I loved making coffees, serving alcohol, bringing the plates out etc etc. Honestly I had a wonderful time here ! Bret and Sarah (my managers) were the sweetest people ever and were very considerate of how we were all feeling and very flexible with our days off especially if we were planning a big trip. Oh and my coworkers were the nicest people ever and I had a really good time with all of them! We also had fun taking turns hiding the peppa the pig figurine all over the restaurant haha :)) The bonfires on the beach or in the desert and the spontaneous overnight hiking trips on mountain peaks were definatly some of my favourite most cherishable memories. I also quite enjoyed hitch hiking to whitehorse with two of my fellow coworkers, that was a crazy experience on its own haha ;)) Even though I had a pretty big age gap with a lot of them, I never felt that I was treated any differently. We were a really nice bunch to say the least and a big family so it is bittersweet to leave this place ! hopefully our paths cross again some day! I saw so much wildlife all the time and this experience was truly lifechanging. Ria, Misty and Grizzly were the best dogs and cat to have around and I will miss them terribly!! Thank you so much for this once in a lifetime opportunity that will always have a special place in my heart !
