Description
Hi, so I'm an eighteen year old student from the British Isles who has just (thankfully) finished my A Levels which are the British post-secondary school exams that qualify you for university. I mostly did science related stuff because I've always liked science and physics and maths, but I also did History because although I knew I wouldn't get a great result (and I didn't), I enjoy learning about it and I think it's really important to know about.
Anyway, I'm doing a gap year to give me a break as the A Levels weren't particularly fun, so before I go to university next year to do engineering in Europe I'm intending to do a Workaway to ease me into travelling alone, because although I've travelled a lot I've not done much alone before. I had a very nice relaxing few months with my familty in our house in Ireland and now I'm going to go backpacking around Europe in May and June, possible late April. I'm looking to go to Germany (or maybe Denmark/the Netherlands) for university this September/October and so want to learn that language, because although the courses are all done in English I think it's important as well as practical to speak the native language, and so I intend to spend around a month in Germany as part of my backpacking.
I'm supposed to say my strengths next which I'm never very good at, but as healthy 18-year old boy I can definitely help in physical tasks, and I'm quite intellectual so if anything to do with maths or science ever comes up I can help in that way. I've travelled a lot (probably about half my life I've been away) and speak a little German so that helps as well, and although I only have a little experience (about 5 hours of groundwork) with horses I am very eager to learn and for what it's worth I've taken part in a fair bit of dog training so I have that as a base.
Useful stuff to know about me is that I know a bit of German (aber nicht viel) but want to learn more, I don't have a driving license, I am vegetarian and can cook some meals but not a huge variety, like fried eggs, pasta, tofu, etc.Centres d’intérêt

I am very interested in learning a language, probably German but could also be Danish or Dutch because I'm probably going to university there and I want to be fluent by the time I leave. For my own interest I want to learn Cymraeg/Welsh and Gaeilge/Irish Gaelic, but also anything of Breizh/Breton, Kernowek/Cornish, Gaelg/Manx Gaelic, Gàidhlig/Scottish Gaelic and Euskara/Basque, purely because I support all those national independence struggles, and I live in Ireland and Cymru so being able to speak the oppressed language would make me feel more connected to the country and struggle.Compétences et connaissances que j'aimerais partager ou apprendre

Other than improving my German, my main reason for staying was horses, and as much as Thesie’s busy schedule allowed I did some horse riding and more horse-walking. My daily work duties were cleaning the horse stables in the morning and then whatever… read more
