Description

My name is Tore, from Denmark - although I've spent (most of) my time since 2016 abroad, because of my interest in cultures and accompanied enthusiasm for travelling. Following these interests, I also cherish getting to know people's respective worldviews and life experiences.

Moreover, I'm curious by nature and have found that my BA in Philosophy compliments this propensity well.
My main interest and motivator in life revolves around (human) consciousness, and as such the fields of 'Philosophy of Mind', Existentialism and (Cognitive) Psychology - consequently, I have an affinity for eastern philosophies (the numerous branches of Hinduism, Buddhism and Taoism - as well as Sufism and Kabbalah) and their accompanied emphasis on meditation as a tool for embetterment. Accordingly, I meditate regularly and have participated in several Vipassana retreats.
An additional (and connected) interest of mine is in the field of 'Environmental Philosophy (Deep Ecology)', which my BA-thesis was based upon.

I hope that the combination of these abovementioned facts paints a picture of me as a polite and genuinely friendly guest and interlocutor, that can facilitate a cozy environment for interesting conversations with people of all ages and cultures.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I bring a broad range of skills, that I've picked up along the way, from DIY experience to English interlocutor and many things in-between - below is a more in depth description:

I'm a social person and enjoy conversing with people of all ages, since i'm convinced that everybody has something of import to share and thus, there's always a mutual process of learning taking place within each discussion.
Consequently, I've done plenty socially based volunteering (workaway) and work as receptionist (two times in Rio & Ottawa, respectively), meet-up organizer (Seoul) and English interlocutor twice in Tokyo, as well as once in Dajeon, South Korea.

Furthermore, I'm a certified TEFL (Teach English as a Foreign Language) and have had the pleasure of gaining experience teaching English in Hanoi, Vietnam (grade 4-11). I complimented this by evening classes for preschoolers, too! My teaching skills are, moreover, supported by the subject 'Philosophy of Education' from my BA as well as 'Socratic Dialogue (Therapy)'.

Through my travels I've had opportunities to enhance my DIY skills, helping renovate/build as well as paint indoor/outdoor, and put down outdoor wooden flooring.
Moreover, I've added to this skillset by working 6 months as unskilled labour, assisting in the construction of a Showroom back in Denmark, in the first half of 2025.

I also have 2 years of experience in the field of customer service/maintenance (1 year for private customers, and subsequently promoted to business customer maintenance).

I'm a passionate hiker and, as such, interested in the outdoors in general as well as the inhabitant flora and fauna - hence, I don't mind getting my hands dirty. As a result of these interests, I've been working in the field of Forest Inventory in Australia on two prolonged occasions, where I've had the enjoyment of combining hikes with plants in a work-setting.
I've also been doing general garden maintenance and landscaping, as a workawayer and an employee, respectively.

Finally, I'm a 'foodie' and hence enjoy trying different cuisines - consequently, I likewise take pleasure in cooking (although, I most confidently cook (North)European dishes, whilst the authenticity of others cuisines might be questionable :D). And as a side-bonus; I find dish-washing therapeutic!

I'm not picky regarding accommodation, and would, in fact, be happy with a small piece of floor to sleep on :) Additionally, wherever it might fit the settings, I travel with my own hammock and can without problem 'set up camp' in that, to save space, if need be :) .
Furthermore, I see myself as neat&tidy and thus, I don't believe I'll make much of a perceivable impact upon any host's daily rhythm, who should be kind enough to invite me unto their premises.
