Hola, I’m Tomás from Cork, Ireland.

I’m an artist and builder/maker. I recently finished building an outdoor Sauna & Ice-bath. I work during the summer here in Ireland at music festivals creating large scale art installations, and have set up my own independent music and arts festival on an island in West Cork.

I lived in Barcelona for 7 years, so speak Spanish quite well, and was travelling around Mexico last year for 6 months with Workaway, living in communities.

In Mexico I spent time in the Jungle in Yucatan, Mountains in Oaxaca, and remote beaches along the Pacific coast. I was building with natural materials, making furniture out of tree trunks, and creating murals. In the mountains we were building an adobe (wattle&daub) hut made with earth and pine needles. Learning about this method of building was incredibly interesting.

I'm looking to get out of Ireland for a few months, work outdoors, and get stuck into some building projects.

I like to work with sustainability in mind, and have a keen interest in landscaping, gardening and growing my own produce. I’ve built a polytunnel/raised bed which I designed myself to grow vegetables. I make my own hot-sauces with chilis I grew from seed. This summer I started making Kombucha.

My art installation for the festivals this year was a 4m tall hanging Sun sculpture, which was projection mapped from behind with visuals. Last year centered around Mobiles/Kinetic Sculptures. These were made out of steel, which I welded together and painted, and made various shapes out of ply (pyramids, cubes etc.) The mobile was then balanced and hanging with steel wire, and moved freely with the wind. The largest one was 7meters long x 3meters wide, hanging 10meter's high in a tree above a path. Pictured below.

I filmed and edited a video for the sauna build, it's a 20 minute start to finish full build video which I put together (and produced the music for haha) and recently built a rocket stove which I made a video of the process as well. On YouTube it's: 'Sauna Build Ireland' and 'Rocket Stove Ireland'

Some interests of mine are cooking, music, (I play guitar, piano, drums, and production) art , reading, writing and anything to do with the Ocean.
