Description
Hi! I’m Sophie, and I’m from Trinidad and Tobago, a pair of beautiful islands in the Caribbean :) . Growing up, I loved the ocean, nature, and creating things. I moved to Egypt when I was younger, and ever since, I've wanted to get to know as many cultures, environments, and most importantly people.
I enjoy innovation and am good with hands-on activities and outdoors work. Currently, I'm studying mechanical engineering where I have a lot of access to design resources and manufacturing machines, so if you have a project in mind that you need help coming to life, shoot me a message!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
Currently I'm studying mechanical engineering, where my skillset is developing every day. I can design using CAD software as well as manufacture my creations from materials like aluminium, plastic, and steel using a variety of manufacturing technologies. I can 3D print designs for any projects you made need, and I have access to all the equipment! Recently, I led a project in designing resilient water infrastructure during droughts and flooding, and my team won the Industrial Partner award for my university. I'm super interested in taking on more projects related to natural disasters.
Otherwise, I have experience in hospitality, I worked for a year in a restaurant as a Line Chef and a server, also prepping food and making the desserts. I learned about working and communicating efficiently in fast paced environments. I also spent a month volunteering in a hostel, where customer interaction was my main role. I led drinking games and did tour guiding for groups of around 30 guests. I also helped at reception with check ins/outs and did maintenance and cleaning.
I work well with children. I’ve volunteered as an assistant ballet teacher for four years, and also worked at an bungee jumping centre where I was in charge of customer interaction, safety and operation. I also au paired for two children last year.
Over Covid, I started an online small business selling clothing where I learned how to use social media for business, and then used my skills to manage the social media account of a makeup artist’s business.
I am certified in first aid, CPR, and AED.
I can operate an excavator and have cleared roads and helped build car parks with it. I learnt this when I volunteered at a nuclear bunker for 3 months and participated in a lot of construction work to restore the bunker. I also learned basic stone masonry skills and helped give tours during Bunker Open Days.
I’m a fast learner and willing to help out with pretty much anything, and would be super grateful to learn any new skill :)
